Age of quilt tops

My girl friends father in law passed away and these quilt tops had been stuck in a Minneosta attic for many years....never completed. She has now had it long armed and wants to put a label on it. I shared information about this website and all the wonderful people being so helpful and friendly. We thought someone here might recognize some of the fabrics and be able to shed some light on the age.

I recently quilted a butterfly quilt that looks a lot like that one, same butterflies, even yellow background. The one I quilted was made in the 70s. Some of those fabrics look like they could be 40s prints but others seem much more recent.

The black applique stitching around the Sunbonnet Sue's and the butterflies -- is that done by hand or machine? A close-up of some of the blocks would be helpful.
They sure are pretty!

A close up would be much easier to see the prints. Really cute though.

Loving the input...so here is some more info......The black is hand stitched and the blocks are machine stitched together. She thinks the blocks were created at a much earlier time than the quilt itself. When cleaning the house they found 15 extra blocks not included in the quilt. That is what we know....

Thanks quilting board friends for the help!

I would guess the 40s. All that nice handwork. Too bad she didn't have the time to hand quilt them.

Ditto - 30's 40's fabric and patterns. Hand quilting would have preserved the vintage look.

Those are feedbacks,probably 30's to 40's.

Thanks for the close-ups. I have never seen a Sunbonnet Sue with her hands in her pockets. I have one with no hands at all.

I think 40 - 50's and thanks for the bigger pics. Very nice work they did on it too. The hands in the pockets and pockets are so cute!
