All My Boxed Squares

1 Attachment(s)
Up until now I have made all my Boxed Squares quilts scrappy, but this morning I was playing in my EQ5, and came up with this. I am wondering what you think. Is this too blah, or would it work?

quiltin-nannie 05-15-2014 08:13 AM

I like it! I can see it with a beautiful batik framing a solid square!

QuiltnNan 05-15-2014 08:14 AM

personally, i love it!

aronel 05-15-2014 08:46 AM

I love it. The colors are great.

Doggramma 05-15-2014 09:02 AM

Really like it, except I'd change those little blue squares to a more "poppy" color. But that's just my style. If you want soothing though, it's nice the way it is.

serenitybygrace 05-15-2014 09:35 AM

I really like it. It is beautiful.

nanacc 05-15-2014 09:51 AM

Love that pattern! Will make a beautiful quilt with many options!

TexasSunshine 05-15-2014 11:33 AM

I really like it also and immediately thought batiks.

gigi712 05-15-2014 12:03 PM

I love it!

barny 05-15-2014 12:06 PM

Nothing blah about that quilt. I love it just the way it is. Perfect.

michelleoc 05-15-2014 12:13 PM

I like it a lot. The batik gives it some motion and interest.

piepatch 05-15-2014 12:36 PM

I like it exactly as it is. I think it is very pretty, and if fact quite elegant looking! Nothing blah about it.

klgls 05-15-2014 12:40 PM

I agree - very elegant/soothing looking.

ube quilting 05-15-2014 01:19 PM

I think it is really cool. I have one ?. Do you intend for the sashing to be different widths? In your plan the verticals are narrower than the horizontals. The little blue corner stones would balance the quillt better if they are also square, imho.

I would make this pattern, It has a contemporary and simple feeling to it. Very nice.

Let us know if you are going to make it!!!:D and please post.
peace

Oh my I really like that!

Boston1954 05-15-2014 02:42 PM

Oh my, thanks so much for seeing that. I just went and fixed it. If I do this quilt, I would not want to accidentally buy the wrong amount of fabric based on what the computer said. LOL

Cam's gram 05-15-2014 02:48 PM

I love it too!

Tweety2911 05-15-2014 06:04 PM

I have to agree, it looks great in the colors you chose!

ann31039 05-15-2014 06:18 PM

I like it alot

Cybrarian 05-15-2014 06:36 PM

I really like it. Love the colors and materials you have it in. Could be how it shows in my browser but to me the colors remind me of how the sun comes through the branches of the beautiful blue spruces in Michigan or the sun on the water here in Florida- very calming and peaceful feel to your design and materials.

BETTY62 05-15-2014 08:00 PM

Very nice. I really like the pattern.

stillclock 05-15-2014 09:25 PM

honestly? i find it a little boring. but if you have fabric you really want to feature, it could be a really lovely serene work.

That is beautiful

lclang 05-16-2014 03:37 AM

Would be fabulous with a fussy cut center.

I do a lot of charity quilt, and have tried tweaking the standard square in a square. I found this pattern and it is fun with two sides being 2" finished and the other two sides being 3" finished. Then it is fun to lay out the blocks rotating them until your happy with the final results. Try changing your blocks and see if you like the results. I TOO have EQ5 and it is so much fun to play with color and quilt designs. :)

cpower 05-16-2014 03:42 AM

Beautiful quilt! I love it the way it is. Batiks would be great!

grandme26 05-16-2014 04:51 AM

I love it. Beautiful!

Yooper32 05-16-2014 05:12 AM

It depends on what you like.

maviskw 05-16-2014 05:25 AM

Sure is a beautiful quilt! Did you notice how the background print is not interrupted by seams? If you make this in the normal way, there will be seams and the seams will show when the pattern is interrupted. There are two ways that I can think of to do it differently: one is to put your beautiful batiks in the center blocks and leave the outsides a plain or very small print. Another is one I've seen on this board sometime. Sew the center blocks onto the larger squares with a top-stitch, and leave the edges raw. You may not want that on something so pretty. So how about facing the small squares with dryer sheets sewn onto the right side, slit them and turn, and then top-stitch right on the edge of the small square. Lots of work, but the print background would be whole.

I think it works wonderfully! Love it!

Mariah 05-16-2014 07:34 AM

It is pretty, but I think a border of contrasting color--Orange or even a mix color with Orange the predominant color would add interest.
I like it.Mariah

llong0233 05-16-2014 08:13 AM

To my eyes it's both: Blah and it works. Go figure. It's lovely, subtle definitely works. It's just not bright, colorful or "not blah". You seem to have a good eye and it will be very nice, I'm sure, no matter how you make it.

MargeD 05-16-2014 09:11 AM

I like it and don't think it's too blah.

MOLLYDOOKER2 05-16-2014 09:15 AM

2 nice batiks that contrast well. What's not to like?!!?!?

BrendaK 05-16-2014 09:32 AM

I happen to love this color combination. It's very calm. BrendaK

JanieH 05-16-2014 09:59 AM

I love it, so simple and elegant!

WMUTeach 05-16-2014 10:43 AM

I like it and I am sure for the right person it will be a hit. The choice of fabric will make a BIG difference. I know from time to time I see postings requesting patterns for a two color quilt and this would be a good suggestions.

smoothride 05-16-2014 11:56 AM

It is beautiful.

liking quilting 05-16-2014 03:22 PM

It works for me; beautiful!
