I think each tree in 1 fabric is more appealing than having all fabrics in 1 tree. Maybe seeing more than 1 tree in the mixed fabrics might look quite nice.

Many thoughts here, resulting in “pick which one you like best.” It’s got to please you, the maker.

1. In nature, trees and grass are never just one shade of green. There’s a mix of forest green, blue-green, yellow green, grey-green. So feel free to be artistic by imitating nature. Mix up shades within each tree.

2. Keep all triangles within one tree the same, but vary the trees.

3. Think of sunlight hitting one side of the trees. Put all lighter greens on one side, all darkers on the other .

I would prefer each individual tree to be the same. To me, it would make each tree stand on its own, rather than X number of blocks all looking basically the same. But, that is just me. This is your quilt. Do what makes you happy, and makes you look at it and think, "I really love this!" The only opinion that matters is yours!!

When I go out and sit under a tree and simply gaze at it, enjoying its beauty I also notice all the different colors, shades and patterns. The leaves are as varied as people’s fingerprints, there are dark, medium and light greens, leaves / branches are all different sizes, shapes.every part of the tree is different from the part next to it. The perfection and beauty in nature is in the imperfections

I like your different fabrics. It makes your trees all different and interesting

I had this same issue when I made https://carterquilter.wordpress.com/...nce-beautiful/
I was following the pattern with the "scrappy look" when someone said they thought each leaf should be all from one fabric. I was using 9 different batiks. I tried it the non-scrappy way and I really liked how each block looked. DH convinced me to follow the pattern. I really loved the scrappy look of the finished quilt... and I would not have been as pleased with the same fabric leaves version.

I seem to be in the minority here but I really like the trees with the random triangles.
But it's your choice.

What they said. Left-right symmetry. Layer scrappy. Always look at the photo too. Something makes it easier to see what's going on.

And trees are not all the same color. New growth on pine trees is usually much lighter than the old. Disease and age of branches can cause them to be different. Your quilt, your colors.
