I love for them to be appreciated, and used!

I just finished up a quilt for me...and my daughter. Next up is my hubby's military quilt. I think he is ready to see it finished.

I recently made a purse for my BFF's 6 yo DGD. When she talked with the child, she asked her if she liked her purse. The girl said no, (long pause), in this case (another long pause) I LOVED IT! She's a girly girl and my quilted, recycled jeans embroidered purse was very appreciated. I do love that she's being introduced to fabrics and sewing. She picked out some fabric and I made her a top and used the excess to line the purse. She's the only little girl I have to sew for as all my relatives seem to be having boys. I'm glad you've got a little one who appreciates the stuff you make.

It does make it worth it when she loves the quilt or outfit I make. Usually if I have her try on something to make sure it fits right, it takes me the rest of the day to get it off of her. lol She never wants to take it off. And she wore a shirt I made the other day and she even said as she was putting it on, Mommy made this for me.

lol, DD got up this morning and the first thing she said, "I want to play with quilt." I had finished up the Berenstain Bear quilt last night after she went to bed. I had told her I would try to finish it so she could play with it today. It is in the wash, to which she asked if "Did Eko get cat hair on it?" lol We have 4 cats so she knows they like to lay on my fabric when I have it spread out on the floor.

How blessed you are to have such a great daughter!

I agree with you. My youngest is 23 and there is nothing that I do for her that she doesn't thank me for. It makes me know that I've raised her right because I never have to wonder if she appreciates what I do; rather it's picking her something up from the store or making dinner. When it comes to quilts; she thinks I'm so good. Little does she know about all the mistakes that are there. I like giving quilts to people like her because they know it takes a lot of time and even cost into making a quilt and they know the sentimental value above all when they are given a quilt. My daughter's 6yr old son is the same way; he loves watching me sew and thinks if I'd only let him at that machine he could do it as well because he's been watching his "Gi-Gi" that's what he tells me. I made him a sleep blanket for school and embroideried his name, schools name and school yr dates on it and you'd thought I'd given him a gallon of ice cream all to himself. Way more special than anything else.

My little one has been playing with the quilt I did last night and is even laying down with it (now if she would go to sleep with it. lol). My mom has been hinting around for another quilt too. lol

People who don't appreciate the quilts we give them don't realize all the time, work & expense we invest in their quilts. I'm afraid I was one of those when I was quite young. But usually those I give my quilts to do let me know how much they love them. And I agree, I want them used, not put away on a shelf. Why save them for someone else to use when the recepient is gone?

I have two sons that I have been sewing for since they were babies... my oldest is 36 and youngest is now 30. They both have quilts that I made for them and my youngest has place an order for a new one. I have a special one in the works for my oldest that was in the Navy. I really love that they want these quilts.

I got to get my husband one made soon.
