there is a discussion on a list I'm on, about this quilt

http://www.quakertownquilts.com/imag...ns/Omigosh.jpg

umm....the nine patches FINISH at 1.5 inches.......

I cut and pieced my first block tonight, the husband dared to laugh at me

cjomomma 06-20-2010 05:40 AM

No your are a nut. I have seen a few quilts done here on QB made from mini's. I would not try it just because I don't have the patience for it. Go for it it will be a beautiful quilt.

Sewsweet 06-20-2010 05:41 AM

I think it will take some time, but will be worth it. Be sure to show us as you go along.

erstan947 06-20-2010 05:50 AM

Wow, that is really small. Be sure to post photos with a ruler beside the blocks.

Angellight 06-20-2010 05:51 AM

And... Your husband's funeral is scheduled for when???

pocoellie 06-20-2010 05:52 AM

If you can do it, go for it. Personally, I don't plan on doing any blocks less than 6 inches. LOL

patricej 06-20-2010 05:53 AM

yes. you are nuts.

keep in mind, though, that nuts come in a wide variety and make healthy, tasty treats. they're the most expensive items in the snack aisle. so they must be a very good thing. ;-)

Rebecca VLQ 06-20-2010 06:05 AM

^^^LOL @ Patrice!

It kinda reminds me of the Dear Jane quilts....soooooo much sewing, but in the end, a satisfying project, you think?

dkabasketlady 06-20-2010 06:20 AM

Go for it, I want to see if you're a Nutter!!!
You've got more nuts than me!

sharon b 06-20-2010 07:51 AM

Just remind DH you are a very expensive nut  LOL

Look at all the postage stamp quilts

amma 06-20-2010 08:05 AM

You may be a "nut" but you are a very patient and creative one!!! I can't wait to see your quilt :D:D:D

hospicenurse 06-20-2010 08:08 AM

you got to be kidding....I need a microscope!

craftybear 06-20-2010 10:24 AM

awesome, and to see the quilt better if you click on control and the plus sign the screen gets bigger and to make the screen smaller just click on control and the minus sign

God bless you. I like mini quilts. I've made plenty of 'em. But to make one that big with all those little pieces? Not sure I'm ready for that!

pollyjvan9 06-20-2010 11:12 AM

Did I figure the size of that block right at 1 1/2" square? If so, maybe you are a "nutter". I just can't imagine making something that small.

laceybritt 06-20-2010 11:23 AM

I think it is a beautiful quilt. The smallest I will work with is a 1&1/2 SQUARE, I can't imagine a block that small. The prob I have with the smaller blocks is all of the seams make it hard to quilt.

MadQuilter 06-20-2010 11:39 AM

Nutty = Mad and Mad = Good! lol

SuziC 06-20-2010 03:45 PM

That will take patience. I have never tried anything that small.
I admire quilters that take on something like that!!

bstanbro 06-20-2010 04:02 PM

One of my favorite quilts that my grandmother made was made up entirely of postage-stamp sized squares. It's a simple enough pattern to reproduce, and some day I'd like to make it. Yours will be a very rewarding quilt to make I imagine. You go, Girl.

hobo2000 06-20-2010 04:07 PM

Have you set up weekly appointments at the dear eye doc. Think ahead...double the size and it would still be an incredible quilt and may save your eyes and attitude. Good Luck!

ann clare 06-21-2010 03:49 PM

Go for it.

twinstitchin 06-21-2010 04:09 PM

I am making a postage stamp quilt,64 121/2 inch blocks finished and lots more to go. I refuse to go any smaller. Please post some pics along the way. You may talk me into it.

Jingle 06-21-2010 04:15 PM

Not for me, patience get thinner as I add on the years.

JEM65 06-21-2010 07:07 PM

Better you than me sweetie! I absolutely love the finished quilt but would never have the patience to make it...maybe I should say finish it! LOL!

fleurdelisquilts.com 06-21-2010 07:19 PM

Forget nuts, I think you're insane. But I'm new here, so maybe I should keep my opins to myself....if I could!

C.Cal Quilt Girl 06-21-2010 08:23 PM

It will be Beautiful, and think of the Ohhh's when you get done. I don't have the patience for the small pieces, but admire all the work that goes in them. :)
Yep.... Nuts :) :) remember wallhangings ;)

tmg 06-22-2010 02:04 AM

No your not. Be proud of yourself for taking on a challenge.

k3n 06-22-2010 02:37 AM

Yes you are definitely a nutter but no, you are not the only one - you're among friends! :-D

peyton 06-22-2010 05:04 AM

ok....

consensus it that I *am* nuts!!

have drafted a couple of blocks to get me going, but have also ordered the pattern so I can get the quilt right (looking like the picture I fell in love with)

am making the nine patches from my strip.string box, the four patches and shoo-fly blocks from strips and strings

not a lot to show yet, just a diagram, and three!! nine patches

will post pictures when I have a double nine patch and a shoo-fly dine

shopella 06-22-2010 05:09 AM

I like nuts of course that beets half baked which describes the cake I made for fathers day. I really thought it was finished but someone told me the middle was squishey as they licked the last crum...

maine ladybug 06-22-2010 05:15 AM

I think it's a beautiful quilt and I would love to make it myself. I like working on mini's and that one would really be worth the effort. Good luck with it and don't mind the laughter.....

bob1414 06-22-2010 09:02 AM

I have this pattern and am looking forward to making it! I love a challenge!!

butterflywing 06-22-2010 09:17 AM

i put the question in the search box and the answer is yes.

Quiltmaniac 06-22-2010 09:42 AM

If you're offering, I'll take a queen-sized one

I'm curious, what are the seam allowances on the pieces? I can't imagine they could be as large as a quarter of an inch.

Also, is this hand or machine pieced?

PunkQuilter 06-22-2010 09:47 AM

I am going to make that one. It is on my schedule.

nuttyhurricane 06-22-2010 10:58 AM

Ok I will tell you I am probabilly the only true Nutter. That is my married name. And my first name is Katrina. Yes just like that hurricane. Too small piece have you seen any of Rhonda's stuff. She has a great template to cut around and some neat ways of sewing small pieces together to make life a lot easier.

cbuchanan 06-22-2010 11:19 AM

I certainly you are a young quilter cause it would take a long lifetime to make that quilt. I'm currently working on some of Sharon's potholders and bookmarks with 1 1/2' squares that I find fun but very slow going. But I love the finished project. Good luck...

jolo 06-22-2010 11:50 AM

Yes I still do the postage stamp around the world by hand is my favorite one to hand piece.

Where did you get the pattern for this one?
