I did this when I was 4 with my mother's treadle Singer. It hurt a lot but nothing like the pressure pain of an electric machine, of today.

ouch, ouch! i haven't ever done that but sat on scissors once. that hurts too, especially when pulling them back out. i think sewing the finger would be worse, more painful. i feel for you. (but the day had to get better from there on)

I did the same thing about 30 years ago. I looked away from my machine to tell my kids to quiet down (all six of them). Didn't know whether to turn the wheel front or back. Lol, I lived to tell about it.

that hurts even though I didn't get punctured. I think if you sew, you've done that at least once.

I also did that many, many years ago. The needle broke and was stuck in my finger ... never did it again!!

I hear of people sewing their finger and hope i never find out had bad it hurts. Pretty smart sewing in reverse. Hope it feels better soon.

O. K. I've done it. Only it was through the side of my finger, right by my nail. On automatic pilot, I jerked my finger free. Luckily, my mouth stayed shut. lol

If you are an idiot, then there are a lot of us out there!!! I have done it a time or two.

I'm having sympathy pains just reading about your accident. Hope it heals soon. From now on keep your eye on the needle.

I had a cute little kitten who loved to sit behind the sewing machine and watch the fabric move. One day she tried to chase the needle going up and down and it caught her paw! I was mortified as I had to hold her paw to raise the needle to release it! After that she would sit quite aways from the machine and glare at it. For human or cat it's a trumatic experience!
