Buy a thread catcher on Etsy.com. I have two and couldn't live without them. They also have pin cushions on them so they do double-duty.

I keep a little ceramic bowl to the right of my machine and I put my snipped threads in it. It has cut down tremendously on my cleaning up of threads!

I spent hours vacuming up threads all day yesterday. I can't see life with out them. Now, my DH is another story. He piles his neatly on the side of his machine. then he takes them to the wastebasket. I throw mine down beside the chair for later pick up.

My sewing room gets so messy that I can't move -- lol
The thread on the carpet? Well, hmmm, every couple of days I just run my fingers over the affected area and scrape them up...that way it doesn't clog up my vacuum with so much thread... |
I just watched an old Eleanor Burns video and she just threw her extra fabric over her shoulder on the floor. I wonder how cleans it up- oh ya she has stage hands! I have 2 waste baskets but still threads and material get on the floor. I really have a split personality- Mary Messy and Nancy Neat. I really like Mary Messy and sometimes have to beat Nanacy Neat down with a stick when she raises her ugle head!
