Farm Quilter 12-07-2010 05:01 PM

I spent a chunk of change at the Superior Threads booth when I was at Quilting with Machines. I love their thread and use it almost exclusively on my longarm, so I bought lots so I could avoid paying postage! Well, one of the classes I took showed up how to make other items on our longarms (thank you Mindy Wiley) using a stabilizer. Well, I asked for it and Bob (owner of Superior Threads) had it shipped up overnight from Utah to Ohio. When I went to get it the next day it was waiting in a box, with the prices and amounts written on the box...with my name on it! There was a young lady helping out by manning the cash register, so she rang up my sale, gave her my credit card and off I went.

Well, when I got home it took me over a month to get to that box. When I did, I really looked at the box, prices and figured in my head about what I should have been charged and it didn't match my memory of the transaction or any of the charges on my credit card. I called Superior Threads, explained what happened and the fact that I was under-charged by about $50.00 and asked if they had records so I could pay them what I owed. The lady I spoke to said Bob was out that day but would be back the next day so she would call me back. When she called the next day, she told me to enjoy the product guilt-free, whatever I was undercharged was a gift from Bob.

Do you think I will buy thread from anyone else but Superior Thread? I don't think so! Amazing, over-and-above customer care and service!!!

Honesty really pays doesn't it?

cjomomma 12-07-2010 05:05 PM

How awesome is that!!! It's great to hear about things like this.

Maride 12-07-2010 05:10 PM

This people are just amazing. They really know their business and what I really like about them is that they do everything they can to educate the customer so you don't end up buying what you don't need. They work with the truth and give away information that others hide. I buy from them whenever I can.

RkayD 12-07-2010 05:14 PM

I want to go to one of their classes. I get their newsletter but haven't had a chance to order thread yet. I just heard more and more good things. How refreshing!

Yes it does, because I was feeling really guilty for underpaying! I felt like I had stolen from them and it was awful!!! I couldn't bring myself to even use the product until after that phone call!

Joeysnana 12-07-2010 05:21 PM

I love Superior Threads. Now after reading this, I love them even more!

amma 12-07-2010 05:33 PM

Superior Threads people are the best. And so is their thread. My Gammill absolutely loves King Tut thread. Their variegated is so pretty.
Good for you. Enjoy all the thread you bought & were gifted with.

Jingle 12-07-2010 05:49 PM

Good for you.

sewgull 12-07-2010 07:36 PM

stewyscrewy 12-07-2010 08:28 PM

Bob is a super thread dude in many ways. I will be switching to superior threads pretty soon. gotta get rid of the stuff I have now, except for the king tut varigated ones.

CarrieAnne 12-07-2010 08:51 PM

How wonderful that you were honest, and they were so nice!

Rocky's Mom 12-08-2010 04:59 AM

Honesty is always the best policy!!

I also use and love Superior threads. I met a man at the Chicago Show--we were both taking a break and having coffee. He was from their booth, had worked for them for years. I had asked him if he had pre-wound bobbins for a Juki, and low and behold he did. I followed him back to his booth and stocked up!
After I got home I also found I was given a "great" deal.
They really do care about all their customers.

Lori S 12-08-2010 07:27 AM

I have the utmost respect for Bob and his company Superior Threads. Great products, wonderful education on the web site, and an AMERICAN Company.

mhansen6 12-08-2010 07:33 AM

I like Bob. He just made a very loyal customer. I think I will look at Superior Threads too.

grammy Dwynn 12-08-2010 07:34 AM

Yes, kudos to Bob (aka Superior Threads) I use Master Piece, for my regular piecing. I use Bottom line in the bobbin for my embroidery machine.

deebee 12-08-2010 07:42 AM

I, too, receive their newsletters and have benefited tremendously from the education they provide. I have a lot of thread on hand now, but planned to order from them in the future. Your experience reinforces my commitment.

BellaBoo 12-08-2010 07:46 AM

I have been buying the new silk thread from them. I love machine quilting with silk thread it hides most mistakes and sews like silk. I use the Titanium coated machine needles sold by Superior. They pay for themselves.

I have no trouble believing this story!! I read their email newsletter and altho I've just discovered Superior Threads, there is a ring of honesty and truth that just comes thru. I save these newsletters and refer to the advice they give and suggestions.I, too would love to take one of their thread classes bec this has been a big bugaboo for me with the new computerized machines. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story. If you read their last newsletter, you'll see the part written by Bob and his take on Christmas!! Love it, love it, love it!!

Im assuming you have a longarm. Are longarm needles different than ordinary machine needles? I have short arm on a frame, just interested in the titanium coated you mention. thank you

Darn right it is, from me at least. I haven't ordered from them before, but will keep that name in memory (the computer's, not mine.)

nena 12-08-2010 04:46 PM

I get all my thread from them. Love the King Tut.

pkelly1947 12-08-2010 04:49 PM

That's wonderful. Bob will probably gain more customers because of your comments and will realize much more than $50. Thanks for sharing

penski 12-08-2010 06:05 PM

that was very nice of them , you did good by being honest

wraez 12-08-2010 06:53 PM

Yes I love Superior Threads too, the threads and Bob. He gave me some free spools of thread a few years ago when I was at Road to California quilt show, just cuz I was telling people how much I loved the threads that I used in the jacket I was wearing. He overheard me and handed me the spools. Guess he appreciated the 'free advertising'

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

It is never to late to be honest and make the effort to pay the correct amount. What a great story and a nice (gift). I am sure you will bee a great customer in the future, but don't expect this to happen each time you order, lol. Thanks for being so honest with the company. I know they appreciate it. I'm not sure how often they have someone call and make an offer to pay for a mistake like that, I'm sure many people would just let it go and think well they should have known better and it's their loss. Honesty really does pay. Enjoy your new thread!! I love to hear stories like this, I was taught by my parents to always be honest, no matter what the price amount was or whatever I was involved in if it wasn't even concerning money. Honesty and truth get you a long way in life, lots of friends, good jobs and a good reputation.

I don't have a LA machine, but when I started quilting yrs ago, a LQS owner told me to try Superior thread.
Gave my other thread away & have never used anything else.I buy the cones from a local LA shop.

When I did order from the Superior, their CS was always great.Never a problem.....1st class ppl to deal with.

judi wess 12-09-2010 05:00 AM

Bob sounds like a salesman who "get's it". This sounds like a "pay it forward" moment. Every once in a while we meet someone as generous as Bob and as honorable as you.
I will now make the effort to order from Signature from now on.

wildyard 12-09-2010 07:18 PM

I give you double huggggggggs and commend you on your honesty Farm Quilter!! In today's economy it might have been tempting to keep quiet about the undercharge, but you did the right thing and were justly rewarded. Even had you ended up paying the difference, I admire you for stepping up and putting your ethics on the line. We need that in today's society!!!

Oh, please don't buy Signature...buy Superior Threads!!! They can be found online at http://www.superiorthreads.com/ Superior Threads are...well, superior to Signature threads!

JoanneS 12-09-2010 11:40 PM

I love, love, love Superior threads- especially Rainbow variegated! No fuzz like Sulky. The first time I used Superior, I only had 1 spool, and I had to use Sulky when I ran out - what a terrible difference! I'm glad I can order Superior on-line.

Jo Mama 12-10-2010 08:29 AM

How nice. I think Superior Threads are great - use King Tut a lot. By being so nice to you they are getting free "word of mouth" advertising so it's a win-win situation.

kwiltkrazy 12-10-2010 02:25 PM

Merry Christmas from Bob.. I would buy from them too. He's got karma in this economy to do that.

judi wess 12-11-2010 05:14 AM

Sorry for the type o. I do have a wonderful rainbow variegated form Signature. Bought it long, long ago, maybe the quality has gone down since then. Don't want to run out of it till I can replace the colorway.
