I've been making clothes for the American Girl dolls for several years. One source for great patterns is www.morrisseydolls.com. They're not super expensive either. Madame Alexander came out with an 18-inch doll recently that can wear the American Girl clothes too. I've had good luck with Simplicity, McCall's, Butterick, and occasionally Vogue too. If you don't have a local store, try e-Bay.

I know it's a quilting site but I too, make AMG clothes. Had many patterns years ago as well as books, but the girl got too old! Gave away the stash.
Now I am about to teach new girls how to sew and guess what they want to make? Yep. Thanks for the site links.
Happy sewing.
PS My first class is a patchwork bag and quilt to carry sewing supplies to and from class with the dolls.
AND yes I still have my girl.

I've been trying to post 2 pictures of AG clothing I made for my GD but they don't seem to appear, they are in jpg. I'm trying again but I don't know what I'm doing wrong, anyway I hope this time it's good

Forgot to tell you which site I can't download, it's agplaythings.com. I get the message image error all the time, too bad as the clothes seem very nice. Does anyone can give me a hint on how to proceed to open these files.

Mammagus, I have a Molly doll because she is me when I was 9 yrs old during WWII. I had braids, glasses and a dad in the Navy. I wore slickers, plaid skirts with white blouses, etc. Problem is I have five granddaughters, three are too old for dolls(in their 20's) and the other two don't play with or take care of the dolls and toys they have now. But I still may make her a wardrobe to pass on to some other little girl someday. Thank you for sharing.

I downloaded the files to my computer and opened them with Adobe. Do you have Adobe?

Those are really pretty! I am making a party dress tomorrow with a silky material that I haven't worked with in years. I wonder what the Janome will think of that stuff?

I have an American Girl doll and a friend of mine was making clothes for her granddaughter's doll and used mine for fitting purposes. The patterns for 18" doll worked great. If you would still like the exact measurements let know.
