American made fabric
Has anyone actually sewn with or washed and dried the fabric that is being made here in the USA? If so, how does it compare to other major fabric lines?

If it is the USA made fabric sold by Connecting Threads I am impressed with it. I am using it in a bargello right now and I love it. I am a pre-washer and the fabrics did shrink 1/4 inch length and width. Only had 1 fabric to "bleed" which was a deep red but after second wash all was good. If there is more out there please post a llink. I'll be glad to give it a run for the money.

I bought some at Jo Ann's and it is very nice and worked well with the project I was doing and it was on sale!!!

I used a batik from Jo Ann's. I didn't think the fabric had a very tight weave for a batik, and the color catcher had some dye after the first wash with syntrapol, but on the second rinse it was fine. I know I don't sound very enthused, but I got it for a back, and I would purchase it again.

I've only seen the American made fabric -- don't know if I'm impressed with it. It seems rather thin, is very stretchy and has a loose weave. It would be interesting to see how it washes up.

My LQS has some and I am thrilled with it. I bought some at Joann's but haven't used it yet..it looks really nice to me. I did see some that seemed loosely woven but I didn't buy it. I am thrilled America is making fabric here again. We had some fantastic mills. I hope they come back home!

I bought some of the American made cotton at MQX. It is a solid color; it's been machine washed & dried but I haven't used it as yet. The weave seemed a little bit looser than some of our quilting fabrics but then I've noticed that several of the big name fabric brands seem this way now, too. It came out of the drier in pretty good shape - that is I don't feel that it wrinkled nearly as much as some of the other solids we've been using for years. And at under $7 per yard, that makes it attractive!

I don't know where the fabric is made, but I do know I love the fabric from Connecting Threads.

I didn't realize that the fabric at Connecting Threads was made in the USA. Does anyone know for sure?
