Beautiful quilt QUILTING HAVEN!

I saw a pattern where the doilies were scalloped. They cut hearts from the doily and put them on a background. It was really pretty.

It becomes another applique or embellishment with a beautiful finish. Go for it. Brilliant idea.

What wonderful ideas. Thanks everyone.

I have a crochet twin sized bedspread. It is very heavy, but of course is a heavier weight thread than a doily. I put it over a solid coloured comforter.

I could see using a large solid piece of fabric for the top and place the doilies on it. Then just back it, without any batting or maybe just a layer of flannel.

My mom made many crocheted snowflakes and she got tired of them hanging on her Christmas tree so she attached them to blocks of denim quilts! She hand sewed each snowflake to the block. It was an odd combination from the delicacy of the snowflake to the ruggedness of the quilt but it was striking!

I have seen it done with crocheted cotton doilies and it was beautiful

I had a thought while reading this thread that I could put my tatted snowflakes onto a quilt top. Then I see tildiemae's mom has done it with crocheted snowflakes. I've given away hundreds of these tatted snowflakes, from about 1 inch across to some that are almost 10 inches across. Most are white, but there are some red poinsettias and a few red hearts. That would make a beautiful quilt or wall hanging. Then I could look at it all year instead of just at Christmas on my tree. Several years I have left my tree up until April or June, and one year I left it up all year; just so I could look at my tattings. I hate having them in a box most of the time after all the work I put into them.
Something else just got put onto my to-do list.

Oh my gosh, Quilting haven. How did you do this? I have tons of my mom's and grandmother's embroidered pillow cases, and I can't find anything to show me how to make quilts with them. Please share!!!!!!
Thanks

I love to use them and old embroidered items in my crazy quilting. I make pillows, quilts or wall hangings.
