Just received my magnetic wand from Annie's. It is the size of a pen, but expands to 22-23 inches. I can pick up my dropped pin before I get out of my chair. Love it.

erstan947 01-26-2014 03:10 PM

How cool. I need to check this out~

amyjo 01-26-2014 03:12 PM

I have one of those and I also have one tht has an led light on the end of it so you can see in the dark. They are really nice, and I got them pretty reasonable at the TSC store on the clearance rack. Mine must be about 3 feet long when extended.

pamesue 01-26-2014 03:14 PM

I have one...it's very cool!

ManiacQuilter2 01-26-2014 03:16 PM

I do too but by then time I find out I am missing a pin, it has gone and played Hide and Go seek. COOL gadget !!

franc36 01-26-2014 03:23 PM

I have one of those and use it constantly as I have a bad habit of knocking a box on pins on to the floor. It is also great for finding my lost needles.

lynnie 01-26-2014 03:30 PM

so awesome, I need one of those too

quiltstringz 01-26-2014 03:33 PM

You can also get those at Harbor Freight or the Auto parts store.

Gramie bj 01-26-2014 03:34 PM

I have one of those, got mine at NAPA auto part store for $1.89. Works great.

mpspeedy2 01-26-2014 03:51 PM

I don't know how I lived without one. I have one in each room of the house where I might do some sewing. It is amazing how much weight you can pick up with one. They sure make getting older easier.

meyert 01-26-2014 04:24 PM

I love it too!! I may have to get me one of those... I drop pins and then find them later with my foot

mighty 01-26-2014 05:16 PM

I have one and they are great!!!

Jingle 01-26-2014 05:49 PM

I sure could use one of those. I hope I remember to look for one, next time I need something more than just that.

My husband got me one at Harbor Freight. It is 3' long, but will extend more. It's a life saver because if I got down on the floor to find pins under the table I may never be able to get up. I also have several of Harbor Freight's magnetic mini bowls to hold my different size pins. I did learn to never stack them...:o

snipforfun 01-26-2014 05:58 PM

Got mine at Joanns

luvstoquilt 01-27-2014 08:45 AM

I have one and love it!

aronel 01-27-2014 09:22 AM

I have one and also love it! I bought mine at the Dollar Store!

Mine came from Harbor Freight. I have seen them with tiny lights on the ends, too. In fact I've got two. One by my sewing machine and one by my sewing chair.

30 month old GD love them too. She's been going around the house picking up stuff. She's learning a bit about which metals can be picked up. She picks up about 2 dozen things then put them in a pile and then picks them up and returns them. She's found out the kitchen drawers are treasurer troves. Gotta keep her out of the sewing stuff, though.

I put my little magnetic bowl in the larger one sometimes. They do stack quite well. Adn if you're careful, you can push the pins on the bottom--bottom bottom--back into their own bowl.

citruscountyquilter 01-28-2014 03:58 AM

I wouldn't be without one of these near my sewing machine. Works great. They are available in the auto section of stores.

LJMouse12848 01-28-2014 04:53 AM

I have one , I love it....easy to store. I had to let my husband use it. Mine has a plastic cover over the magnet.

Tiggersmom 01-28-2014 05:01 AM

Hubby bought me one of those hefty ones at the auto parts store........love those places for quilters items at low cost.

vivoaks 01-28-2014 05:27 AM

I bought one of those probably 20 years ago.... haven't seen it in probably 18 years.... I'm sure it's buried in a box on the back porch, or in a box on sewing supplies in the house somewhere. I do keep looking for it, but so far, no luck....

institches33 01-28-2014 05:50 AM

Love mine....Harbor Freight.

nwm50 01-28-2014 05:54 AM

I have what mechanics uses....works same way and maybe a few dollars cheaper. But in any case...these wands
are a must to have tool !

shirley35 01-28-2014 07:17 AM

I love mine and use it all the time.

mimi=17 01-28-2014 07:20 AM

I love it.

granny64 01-28-2014 07:27 AM

If you have any computerized machines, keep it away from the computer. I could zap the computer.

I went to Harbor Freight last night for the first time to get gloves and ended up spending 65.00 bucks on all kind of goodies. Great Place

Any hardware store carries these. Wallyworld does also. A must have tool. DH laughed at me when he saw me using mine one day. Then he walked into the sewing room barefoot. We have hardwood floors but that little booger was at an angle in a crack and a few choice words spewed out of his mouth.

eastslopequilter 01-28-2014 07:43 AM

Check out your husband's tool box. He had a couple, so he gave me one. I use it all of the time, but be careful, it can magnetize other metal things. I keep it well away from my computerized machine, just in case.

Snooze2978 01-28-2014 07:56 AM

Got one but rarely use it. Now that you've brought it to my attention maybe I should start using it as it would be so much easier to pick those pins up with this gadget. Thanks for reminding me what I already have around the sewing room.

I ipurchased mine at Harbor Freight also but have to remind myself to keep it away from laying it down by my computerized machines; same as with my magnetic pin holder!!! Love it.

feffertim 01-28-2014 08:57 AM

Just make sure you keep it away from your machine if your machine is electronic, the magnets can mess up the machine.

MargeD 01-28-2014 10:01 AM

Isn't it wonderful that people keep coming up with ideas to make our quilting and our lives easier? I think I need to get that magic wand as I'm always dropping pins/needles, etc.

matraina 01-28-2014 11:18 AM

Got to look into that one!

isewman 01-28-2014 12:32 PM

I agree with everyone. I have one, and use it all of the time. In fact mine, is attached to my flruoscent(sp) light behind my sewing machine.

madamekelly 01-28-2014 12:43 PM

I got one at Autozone for $1.99

caspharm 01-28-2014 04:35 PM

I have a similar one from Harbor Freight.

cherrio 01-28-2014 05:31 PM
