Another question on triangles
Hi, I posted a few days ago about needing an idea on what to do with a bag of triangles that my volunteer group received as a donation, we don't let anything go to waste, so my friend and I have matched up a light and dark triangle and have sewed them together (no 2 triangles are of the same color or design)
we are in the process of squaring them off. Any suggestions on what to make with these? Thanks NormaBeth |
How about the hour glass block? Jenny Dolan of MSQC did a tute on it in the past week or two.

Pinwheel blocks? If you align them right it will also show a broken dishes as a secondary block.

I've done a "Broken Dishes" quilt and it is really pretty and interesting.

I have seen many questions about HST on the board. I finally found a book I have really enjoyed. The book is Barbara Johannah's "Crystal Piecing". I made a flannel quilt sampler oversized king-size for our bed with blocks and ideas from her. I think the book is out of print, but if you can find it, I think it has great ideas.

Look at http://www.quilterscache.com and http://quiltville.com for ideas. The latter is Bonnie Hunter's web site. She does mostly scrap quilts, so there you can see how a scrap quilt will look.
For some patterns, you may need to add some squares of fabric to the half-square triangles. |
