DH and I bought and sold antique quilts many years ago - we still have about 10 of our best. They are all for sale but for the right price. Not in any hurry to unload them.

Here is one of our best.

Eddie,
Love your old quilts. Just saw a pattern for buggy wheel in a book by Bethany Reynolds. Cannot believe I threw two old quilts, one a crazy patch and the other appliqued birds, in the trash because they had been chewed by a mouse in GMIL's house. Dumb me I had no idea of their possibilities then.

Ok..confession here..my sister gave me a Bow Tie that her MIL's Mother had made ..just the top..and it had several dark spots from being folded and tucked away for 70 yrs..I took a new white terry cloth wet it went over the reds and didn't find one that bled...TILLLLL dropped it in the cold wash..pink water asap..now after several trys to lighten the white its still 2 shades of pink..I was sick..sick..sick..she had obviously had several types of red fabric used...bad me!

Try rewashing it with a color catcher sheet by Shout. I found them in the laundry section of the grocery store. I've used them several times with great results. One quilt had hot, hot pink border & backing. The 1st time I washed it alone (didn't know about the color catchers). Lots of streaks onto the white. Washed it later (it had been dried too) with a color catcher & all the "bleed over" came out!

I have several antique quilts I've picked up. Just got one this fall at a yard sale in the mountains for $1. It actually hid a treasure signature quilt.

quilting cat, I like Antique Quilts, I would love to see them at a yard sale, but space is a problem, also. Eiltcoq.

Oh my gosh and you could have hand quilted them. What a great price too. Any I see lately are trashed and beyond repair yet they want several $hundred for them. Wish I could find some at yard sales around here!

I love the antique quilts. Here are a couple of mine. The first one by Great Grandma Higby was much bigger than a full size. Don't know why. The second one by Ruth Dixon has beautiful scalloped edges. I also have 3 other quilts by Mrs. Dixon. She did wonderful work.
