I plan to make some things for myself after the new year. I always put off making me anything. I do make things for people that I know would appreciate them.

Merry Christmas everyone, and this holiday season, don't forget to share a little love from your heart, and needle.

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

[i']You are so right and your lovely letter brings it all into perspective. What is it they say a person asks for on their death bed? I believe it is FAMILY, not their financial advisor.[/i]

I make quilts because I love the pattern or the material - I have a lot of UFO's - but I have given several away.

You could make small quilts for Project Linus or for QOV when you finish furnishing your home. Surely you don't plan to quit quilting when you have filled the needs you mentioned.

I know how you feel. Everyone seems to want their home to look like a magazine cover, and the styles don't seem to approve of traditional quilts. However, that's what batiks are for! I have had people frown when they hear I quilt, then totally change their attitude when they see one with the vibrant colors and patterns. Much as I like them, I try to stay away from the browns and "pioneer" colors when doing for others, unless I see it in their personality. They don't want the homemade look.

Would it help if you would have a talk with your fanily and tell them that it won't hurt your feelings if they would rather have something bought instend of something made.Thay way it would a win-win situation. you wouldn't make a quilt that a relative didn't want and they would get something that they did want.

I have been quilting for a few years and have only made that which I've given away. I am now working on my "last" give away and when it's finished----it's all for me!

I can't wait to make something that I can keep.

When my children were young I made all their clothing except undies and socks. My girls thought it was a treat to get a store bought outfit. Now my 53 yo daughter says she wishes she was nearer so I could make her an outfit occasionally. Now I only make quilts and bags.

I keep 95% of the quilted items I make. The other 5% goes to my kids/grands. My girls will get all my quilts one day anyway so I keep them now.

I don't mine buying presents and giving wanted items to people I care about.
