Anyone else in a fabric rut?

I fell in love with the 1930's reproduction fabrics a few years ago. I have made several quilts with the fabrics I have. And have a few more planned to make.

I see all the gorgeous new fabrics and love them, but just don't feel the "Oh, I have to have that fabric!!" like I do with the reproduction fabrics. If I see a new repro line or fabric, I have to buy some of it.

I am going to try and start on my DD's cupcake quilt, so maybe that will help. LOL!!

I hear you, Sherri. I'm still in love with 30s and still buying because I know i will eventually use it. I buy a bit of Kaffe Fassett fabric from time to time and am on the hunt for the perfect indigo for a man's project but that's about it. I'm saving my fabric budget for backings I love (hoping this will get me to finish up some projects!!).

I love the 30's too and have a tote full of them. I also love batiks....but not together. ;)

No I'm the opposite. I see fabric I love, buy it. Then see something else and change my mind about the previous purchase.

Work with what you love! I am not a reproduction kind of gal but we all have our favorites. If the new fabrics aren't your thing, that's ok. You're the one who has to like it.

Just by what floats your boat!!!!! That is what I do!!!!

My favs are 30's fabric and calico. I make a lot of scrap quilts and I think these are wonderful for them, bright and colorful. I make quilts with other fabrics but those I don't love so much.

I know exactly what you mean! I always tend to be drawn to the same kinds of fabrics (vintage/reproduction types, and muted taupes). I see others that a like, but I just can't imagine actually using them the way I can with my 'favourites'. Mind you, I tend to have the same habit when it comes to clothes - lots of the same thing!

I tend to gravitate to civil war repos and batiks. I do try to keep a balanced stash, you never know what you might need!

I wish I could stick to just one kind! I've got a stash of Asians, 30's, novelty, floral, blenders, stripes, homespuns, pastels, earth tones and who knows what else will catch my eye.
