I am just so sluggish on getting back into the sewing room, it is almost overwhelming when I look at the room, the projects, and all my promised todo's to myself. I am thinking that maybe I could be a bit lazy. Anyone else has times like these? Is it the weather?

I did venture in last nite and sandwiched a BOM quilt, just waiting for FM and I don't think anyone else is going to come in and do it for me though.

Buckeye Rose 06-05-2011 06:45 AM

you and me both.....I have so many things to work on....and really need to clean out sewing room, what a mess.....but no ambition to get started on anything....all I want to do is play on the puter!

sueisallaboutquilts 06-05-2011 06:45 AM

It could be the weather. Or any number of things.
I was frantic b/c my sewing room was a disaster and I couldn't stand to even go in it!
BUT- I finally dug in and am almost done with it.
I have the lazies right now b/c I've been preparing for a garage sale- what a PAIN!!! :D
I need to sew today- getting cranky!!!

charmpacksplus 06-05-2011 06:47 AM

I think it's the heat! I took a hand quilting class last week to try to motivate myself. Just can't get into it.

I battled between feeling guilty because all I wanted to do was sit and thinking it's ok to do just nothing sometimes. So I mostly did nothing. Tomorrow I'll get back to doing something.

cctx. 06-05-2011 07:14 AM

It's got to be the Weather (the heat), I feel the same way after noon time.

mzsooz 06-05-2011 07:25 AM

Me too. I want to sew really bad but every time I plan a sew day I end up having to run my daughter to town or babysit my DGD. Not that I'm complaining! Just have so many interruptions that I've learned to not plan on anything. I'm hoping to get down there and sew today. Keep your fingers crossed!

Pat P 06-05-2011 07:26 AM

Try not to look in on the sewing room. Weeds call me outside between the raindrops. Can't even get a pic of my last 2 quilts outside yet. Shouldn't complain the poor farmers just got a good start the last two days and we got 1 3/4 inch of rain last night it rained heavy cats and dogs. Just want to be lazy and sit in the pavillion by the pond, feed the fish and embroider my snowman quilt. Lazy is okay sometime as a body can find work 24-7

mom-6 06-05-2011 07:37 AM

Pat P - please send us some of your raindrops! Its really dry here. Yesterday a brush fire a couple of lots over got out of hand and was burning right next to my daughters property. There was a bulldozed 6-8 ft path all around it but last night a tree really close was blazing up pretty scary. Took DGS home with me to spend the night as he kept wanting to get closer to 'the hot fire'.

dltaylor 06-05-2011 07:45 AM

Yep, it must be spreaading

JulieTN 06-05-2011 07:52 AM

It is the heat around east TN! Even staying inside - lazy happens. To help with the a/c costs, we have the blinds closed, making the rooms cool, but yet somewhat darken places. THAT makes me sleepy!

So I go into quilt room and adjust the blinds more open and realize I simply do not want to leave this entire room etc for someone 'someday' to have to go thru...I want them to have my quilts... done and quilted. Not as morbid as it sounds :D .

Also this is a good time to re-assess what fabric, batting, threads etc I do have. Fabric and notions have been going up in price. Since I love scrappies, I might just have to flesh out a whole scrappie quilt top by buying some small small fabric pieces etc.

SO WHAT! Put on some happy music you like, let some light in and dig into organizing stuff. Good for"the quilter's soul", right?

Julie

I agree, I spend way too much time on this forum, but gee I sure learn alot! I am planning to get in my sewing room as soon as this storm blows thru. I don't want to be on the second floor as much as it is has been rumbling this a.m.

Jamiestitcher62 06-05-2011 07:57 AM

I have been going into my sewing room to sew and end up just looking at all my stuff. I just love going through my fabrics. I did the same when I cross-stitched. I have 25 years of all that stuff in the basement and still love to sort, catalog and reshuffle it. It's cathardic I think.

I do need to get down there and make a snap bag in 11 X 14 size for a friend in exchange for her framing a cross stitch piece that needs to get done.

I agree, it is cathardic! Just fun roaming around looking at fabric. Yesterday, I went and bought some baby FQ's to make a quilt, like I need another project, but it is good for the soul!

Dolphyngyrl 06-05-2011 08:01 AM

yes for like 3 weeks now, thinking of starting again this week, but now I am sick. I spent so long waiting on my BOM which never comes on time so I lost interest and never got it back, i now have 3 not done. After this no longer buying from that company, not very reputable

judy_68 06-05-2011 08:03 AM

Well, I would say Ive been lazy too but then agin I am working 60 hours a week so I don't think that can be called lazy. Right?

deedum 06-05-2011 08:10 AM

I think I must be lazy, aside from the fact I work 42 hours weekly, and more productive than most of my friends in this way. It is just once I am out of the sewing room it is just so hard to get motivated again. I had cleaned and organized it recently so I can find things, just a few more things to do to make it presentable, maybe I should get off here and go and do that, and my mending. Maybe

jetnica 06-05-2011 08:20 AM

me too!

I just spent the past 4 hours cleaning my sewing room. You couldn't even walk in here!

It's all cleaned up, and I have all of my summer projects lined up on the floor (freshly vacuumed!) - but man, I had a TON of junk that didn't belong in here - as well as all of my filing to do.

Now that I'm all cleaned up, I'm working on a couple of baby shower gifts -- they always go quick and make me feel accomplished.

=)

mzmama 06-05-2011 08:55 AM

YES, YES, YES.... I just can not get in the mood to sew. I had to make myself go in my sewing room to make Candlequilters block for her quilts of valor, some things just have to be done. After that I feel like a slug. I keep trying to go in my sewing room to sew but alas to no avail. I will keep trying something will happen sooner or later I hope.

Sadiemae 06-05-2011 08:59 AM

I am lazy today....just waiting for the Nascar Race to start, but I finished two lap quilt tops last night so I deserve a break.

CoriAmD 06-05-2011 10:21 AM

raising hand in agreement here!
I have a large queen quilt I need to finish quilting... just can't get into it. I have been doing a lot of gardening so I can't say I haven't been doing anything, but I need to get this quilt off the kitchen table for hubby's birthday dinner with the kids next Sunday.

Painiacs 06-05-2011 10:51 AM

Heat??? Are you serious? I'm still waiting for Spring to be sprung. ;)

deedum 06-05-2011 12:30 PM

Since we talked last, I have done FM on my quilt, not thrilled with it, but not bad. I have cleaned out my attic. Amazing what a person can get done when they get off the pc.Stopped for a break and dishes are calling me now, then back to my FM.

LOL :-D :-D I agree. Out WEST here, it ain't summer heat yet! Just hoping I will remember this cool spring weather when the heat does come.

Lazy... no, I am pretty sure it is due to two reason:

1. Too much time on the board... but, ah, a girl has gotta learn all there is

And...

2. I have sewing stuff from one end of our home to the other... not exactly always an inviting thing... if any of you know what I mean? LOL

StitchinJoy 06-05-2011 12:37 PM

I quilt for business, so I spend most days working on other people's quilts on the longarm.

I haven't sewn on my Pfaff in 5 weeks.in fact, I haven't even had my own sewing machine out of the travel trolley since I came home from quiltcamp on May 1.

My spare time has been spent mostly digging and planting in the garden or on the terrace, reading. I'll get back to sewing, but this just isn't the right time for me.

Maybe that is what we need, to group together and go to a quilt a thon to get us motivated! I think that will do it

Just what is a 'snap bag'...I'm guessing some kind of a tote? Even tho I have a LOT of quilts basted in and waiting to be qulted; and even some ready to get basted
in,, I'm beginning to feel a bit more organized in my sewing area. My big problem is going to be to clean out the attic late fall when the weather cools. I'd suffocate in there now. Am glad to have the storage area, but I let
myself put 'stuff' in there without putting in a proper place. Did all that a couple of years ago, I keep ridding
out, but somehow I just can't get rid of much.

lots2do 06-05-2011 12:57 PM

Yes. I have a bad case of the lazies today, too. I also have a lot of schoolwork I need to get cracking on - end of the year paperwork. Really do need to get it done soon so I'll be ready to pack up my classroom when that time comes. And, I'd so rather be making something. Well, I would be if I had more energy. :)

UCHSCPSYCH 06-05-2011 01:09 PM

I'm not the only one?! It was sure good to look at all these responses because I'm in the same boat. My sewing room is a total mess and it is like not caring. Oh well, I guess like everything else this to will pass and then it wiill be back to the projects.

WinSumLsSm 06-05-2011 01:20 PM

OMG! I have the biggest case of the lazies... Dont wannas and general blah..

I have more fabric than I will ever use... more projects than I will ever finish... my birthday is in 2 weeks and I am just blah... ugh...DH and I are always fighting.. I should not complain... I am blessed besides there are quilters in ethiopia who dont have fabric... LOL! I totally just made that up.. remember mom saying there are people in ethiopia who are starving... well I made it work for us

I would love someone to play with... LOL! well organize everything with me..
