 Thanks, it litterally made me sick to make it as the high contrast of the purple and white made me dizzy and sick to my stomach, beside I don't like purple very much.

Has anyone made a Yellow Brick Road in different shades of purple? Does anyone has a pattern they used and liked in purple? I am all ears.

hooray for purple, my favorite, and I've done quite a few purple quilts. One thing on my bucket list is to make a purple sampler of Sunbonnet Sue, I have so many patterns I will do thirty blocks each different.

I made a flying geese scrappy without the poop and it came out beautifully - sorry don't have a picture

I made my first quilt in various shades of purple and used gold as an offset color. Much to my amasement it looked really good (for a first timer) when I was done. Purple is kind of a staple color of mine, I love it. Don't be afraid of it, you can be really creative.

I made a "4 Patch Stack Posie" quilt, the fabric is black background with purple flowers. It is made in a stack and whack method but only takes 4 repeats and you use the same fabric for the blocks and border. The only other fabric you need is sashing. It makes a striking quilt. I have a small quilt shop and I vend at quilt shows and when I display it at a show it gets lots of WOW's. It's a fun quilt to make too, anticipating what each block will look like.

Several years ago I made a purple rag quilt for our granddaughter. It was made with all sorts of purples and a few other colors in some of the patterns. We called it "Purpleicious". I wish I had a photo to show it.

ceegee 04-27-2010 05:34 AM

I didn't make a whole quilt but just a pillow cover.I'll send the picture to you if i can find it. Carol Doak foundation pattern was the pattern I used

Hey, any pattern works in purple! I am not a purple fan until it comes to quilts. My DM and I love making purple quilts.

A friend completed a queen-size quilt in purples for her mother. She used a beautiful French Braid, I believe with the separator bands, and quilted the columns before completing the quilt. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the quilt here at work, but believe me, her mother was ecstatic--me, I was just green with envy.

I'm in the process of making a purple tube quilt. Just need to quilt it, bind it and it will be done.

okiequilter 04-27-2010 07:30 AM

I'll get a picture and post it later.

Hi Dina,
Go to search (above) and put An Angel for My Sister by Sunlover and it is the purple quilt I made for my sister. Purples are beautiful in quilts

Bobbielinks 04-27-2010 07:37 AM

So many beautiful purple quilts. I too would love to see more.

We give our guild president a quilt at the end of her term and one of our president's wanted a very simple purple quilt. Here's a photo of her proudly showing it off.

I love purple! Here's one I did using purple and teal. Since the white fabric had a tiny print of purple and teal running through it that looked like threads and it is a spools pattern, I named it "Tangled Threads".

bstanbro 04-27-2010 07:49 AM

Maybe this will help?

I don't always have good luck posting pictures, but if this doesn't show up, you can see the same quilt under my name to the left. Lots of purples, lavenders and creams. I made it for my daughter in law and she loves it!

I love purples too! I made a twisted bargello of purples(primary) along with blues & greens for a friend who enjoys purple so much that her couch is a deep violet. My husband liked this particular bargello enough that he said he wanted this one. He never speaks up like that, so, it's his. I still need to finish a purple sampler that I've begun for this friend though.Everyone's pictures on here are so inspiring! I will see if my husband knows how to put a photo on here. If so, I will post the bargello.

I made this quilt for my niece who loves purple. One of my 1st quilts and I was really "green" when I started it so it took me a few years. I sid and tied it because it's going to get a fair amt. of use and washing.

This is my first quilt actually. I love purple too and the first picture is the whole quilt. It is purple and yellow with a bit of green and cream. The second shot is a close up to see the colours. The back was done with more purples, but I didn't take a picture of it.

I am on a hunt for any fabric with violets to work into the purple and green California King quilt I will be making. Do you know the manufacturer/collection/name of your violet fabric? It's gorgeous and I love your block.

I love this thread...so many beautiful purple quilts!!!

I have been working on a shades of purple "Pickledish" quilt and also a lavender and white Seven sisters quilt. I work on the pickledish for a while and then put it down..I think it is time to start working on it again.
