From what I understood a Hobo Quilt is the language of the rails. Each block represents a sign/signal that was used to let the hobo's that rode the rails know what was available, if they could get work, safe & unsafe drinking water, medical care, beware of dog, etc. The top two blocks on buddy'smom's post mean (left) Doctor, no charge - (right) Gentleman.

Not sure just yet, but thinking about it. I have many UFO'S as well, I have the Civil War Quilt Diary almost done, I have 40 more to make out of 122 blocks.
I am still debating on the one that uses all the blocks or the one where the blocks are incorporated in the rail cars with the tracks around the border.

It's a Civil war quilt and it has stories in the book about the Hobo's. Very intresting, I love to read them.

Its not from the civil war, the Hobo quilts and symbols are from the great depression I thought.

Great job on the quilt. I like the look of it but I have too many other things going
