I just put my husband and 8 year old son in the car for a day of skiing!!! I'm home alone and planning to quilt all day! (We'll maybe I'll throw a nap in for good measure :o)

I'm finishing a robot quilt for my son and starting to cut out two more projects. Looking forward to getting started! Here's a picture of him a few days ago. Now I have his legs finished and am starting the quilting!

quiltingeileen 12-13-2014 08:21 AM

He's very cute! Enjoy your quilting day and hope it is productive. I will be making a few more tote bags for gifts. A nap is also a good thing!

Not this weekend. DH needed to borrow my sewing table, 8 ft. folder, to use at the local gun show. Fund raiser for the school music department. So I'll put up the Christmas tree instead.
Love your quilt!

Tartan 12-13-2014 08:28 AM

That is going to be a cute quilt! Just finishing up my Christmas shopping this weekend.

tessagin 12-13-2014 08:29 AM

I'm repairing and binding 2 quilts. 1 repair and 1 bind. Then clean and reorganize the sewing room.

tessagin 12-13-2014 08:30 AM

Love your quilt! Adorable!!

Quilting here as well. I need to go by the Bernina store and pick up my mom's sewing machine, she went for service last week. I started a new pineapple quilt. I love to paper piece, for me it take the pressure off of trying to make perfect points. This is one of my blocks. I will be making equal number of black and white background blocks.

Pat G 12-13-2014 08:48 AM

I've started a Bargello placemat but need to spend my day making standup paper Christmas trees to decorate Christmas dinner tables at the clubhouse. I am a snowbird in Ariz & won't be going home to Washington state for the holiday this yr. I do sew the two parts of the trees together so maybe that counts as sewing. LOL

Doggramma 12-13-2014 08:58 AM

What a darling robot! I'm working on a snowman quilt (for me). And I need to layer up a couple quilts that need to be quilted and sent out as Christmas presents. I better stop dilly dallying!

jeanne49 12-13-2014 09:01 AM

Cute robot quilt. I will be quilting, have several things started so hopefully I will get at least one project completed.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

These look fabulous!!! I'm hoping to give some geese a go today too! Yours are so colorful!

crafty pat 12-13-2014 09:55 AM

I wish I was but it is gift wrapping time for me and I have a lot to wrap.

francie yuhas 12-13-2014 10:00 AM

I'll be continuing handquilting a Texas star wall hanging . It's a Christmas gift for my kid who made the top,but hates the quilting part. The star is quilted; now for the feathers in the background.

Starting a baby quilt with a charm pack & HSTs. My DD's friends are having babies and they all are girls!
We've already welcomed and gifted Ella, Emily, and Eloise!! I love making baby quilts!!

profannie 12-13-2014 10:19 AM

Got 45 minutes of free time this morning. DH was doing some errands with the two older kids and the baby was napping. I put my FW on the kitchen table and did some chain piecing of flying geese. It's for a chevron baby girl quilt for my friend. She is due for Christmas... bad timing for me!
Very cute robot... I love the orange on low volume blocks.

MagaQuilt 12-13-2014 10:20 AM

I am FMQ my Christmas tree  I hope to share a picture next week if I manage to finish tomorrow. Then it will be time to decorate if I can find some small stuff amongst the boxes and boxes of tree decorations in the loft. I'm getting excited :)

beautiful!

DebraK 12-13-2014 10:22 AM

kristijoy, i love your robot quilt!

Cheryl7758 12-13-2014 10:33 AM

Cute quilt! I need to be quilting, just need to get some motivation to get it done. One on the frame partially done that needs to be finished so I can start on the one for my son and his girlfriend - luckily I didn't promise it for Christmas, just a "whenever" quilt from some blocks I got in a block swap that happen to be the colors they like.

Everyone have a great weekend.

ontheriver 12-13-2014 10:40 AM

I quilt or sew just about everyday, one of the perks of being retired. I have several projects I'm working on.

pennycandy 12-13-2014 10:41 AM

Love the robot, it's so cute! I'm working on finishing three rag quilts. Two are done and everything is cut & starched for the last one. They're all rag quilts. The sewing part is easy but yikes what a mess to get them to fray!

Jan in VA 12-13-2014 11:12 AM

SuzyM, your pineapple quilt will be so bright and pretty!

I'll be starting a set of placemats shortly, for my DD.

I don't think I'll have time to quilt this weekend. I'm baking and decorating Christmas cookies this weekend. Hopefully Monday after my mammogram, I'll get back in my room to work on a few things.

SharonTheriault 12-13-2014 11:18 AM

Oh how I wish I was sewing this weekend, but the sewing room is all packed up for our move to GA in Feb. DH wanted the space for storing packed boxes. Don't know how much he's going to be able to store in there. My boxes take up most of the room and I have at least one more for finished quilts... and then there's the books. lol

geevee 12-13-2014 08:50 PM

I'm making an owl panel quilt for my soon-to-be grandson, my daughter wanted a fleece backing for extra softness so, not knowing any better (since I've never used it), I bought ultra cuddle fabric. Oh that stuff is hard to work with, it stretches like mad width-wise, so much unpinning (and a little unsewing), smoothing and repinning working my way from the center out. But I have the quilting I intend to do done (which isn't a great deal) and have it sewn all around the edges for binding prep, hopefully I'll be able to get the binding on tomorrow without any bunching or puckering or much (more) cursing. ;)

Jeanne S 12-13-2014 09:03 PM

I am quilting! Just finished up one to get in the mail Momday, and trying to finish a second for gifting later this week!

zennia 12-14-2014 02:59 AM

I plan on sewing binding on a quilt while watching football. Yesterday I finished up making mug rug gifts. Busy week ens sewing.

I'm sewing this weekend as well. I have finally started a new quilt for me in greens and pinks with roses on it. So girly. I finished all the 9 patch blocks yesterday and I have to cut the solid blocks today. I'm making an Irish chain. Th solid is a white on white with a rose pattern. Here's a peek at the 9 patches.

We spent the biggest part of the day yesterday processing a deer. Today I'm marking the background grid on my wholecloth. I can't wait to finally be able to sink my needle into it!

Olectra 12-14-2014 04:55 AM

I got a lot of errands, shopping and wrapping done yesterday. Today it will be around 60 degrees so I have to wash the car and finish raking the leaves before it gets cold. This afternoon I will finally get to do some sewing. I will be making the squares for a disappearing 9-patch for my MIL.

your little robot is cute!

Becky's Crafts 12-14-2014 03:31 PM

I'm finishing up a snowflake table topper and working on two Mariner's Compass quilts. One is a queen size that I have 13 blocks out of 30 done, and one is a lap robe & I only have three blocks done for that. The lap robe is something my DH told me I should do as I've been doing two blocks at a time to finish my Mariner's quilt. (Stjill working on assembly on that one too!) When I got done with the added blocks I needed for mine, he suggested I continue with two blocks at a time to have a Mariner's lap robe to gift. I've been doing small projects trying to keep the burn-out away!! As much as I love the Mariner's blocks, enough is enough... LOL!

lynnie 12-14-2014 04:00 PM

I love how he's coming out. I love the randomness of the strips in the blocks. i'd love to see him done.

kristijoy 12-14-2014 04:26 PM

Sounds like everyone is having a productive weekend! I've almost finished the robot, I just have the rows to join now. (It's quilt as you go, so joining the rows is the last thing). Plus I got 2 more projects cut out that I'm taking with me on our road trip. I'm planning to sew while the guys are out skiing again! :)

SuzyM 12-14-2014 06:10 PM

I got seven blocks done - doesn't sound like a lot but I timed myself and it takes 1 1/2 to do one block. So not bad for a productive weekend.

sewbizgirl 12-14-2014 06:27 PM

I got to play with the BH mystery quilt blocks today. I'm behind on those so it was fun to start catching back up!

I love your robot quilt too! Please be sure to show it to us once you get it done.

your little robot is cute!

All of the gifts are ready to ship. Then cleaned up the house (glitter everywhere, well not anymore). YAY!!
I still never got to do any sewing. BOO :'(

Tumdarra 12-14-2014 08:26 PM

I didnt start the sewing process yet, but did lots of cutting. Thinking of making another rag quilt using some of my swap oriental fabric from a while ago. Just not sure yet colour of flannel to use with it.

Doggramma 12-14-2014 09:17 PM

I got the first row done on my Postcard Cuties snowman quilt. That includes the piecing and the embroidery. I can't believe the weekend went by so quickly!

pennycandy 12-14-2014 09:43 PM

All the squares are sewn into strips. I'll be pressing seams open and sewing the strips together tomorrow. Hopefully I have enough thread left to finish. If not, I'm only a five minute walk from a fabric store. Then snip, snip, snip!
