bunniequilter 03-29-2013 04:12 AM

My son was supposed to be home for the long weekend but his leave was cancelled. I took 4 days off to spend with him and now have nothing to do for the next 4 days....not! Spent yesterday cleaning the house most of the afternoon cutting a baby quilt and will spend the next 2 days in my room. Ahhhh the sheer joy and pleasure of it!!!!!

toolazy 03-29-2013 04:13 AM

Have a sewing project that's been giving me fits so I'm putting it in the UFO bin and making a grandmother's fan block instead. Never made one (never made most blocks) but I can envision all kinds of uses for it so thought I'd give it a try.

kubby343434 03-29-2013 04:15 AM

I was supposed to take a class on how to make a lonestar last weekend but was moved to this weekend.......woohoo..........so today and tomorrow will be doing that............sew excited

q.alba 03-29-2013 04:25 AM

Me! I also have the day off. I just finished getting a backing sewn together. Hope to get it onto the longarm today. Need to help another guild member get our raffle ticket packets together. Then, hope to start on a UFO that needs applique which is why it has been sitting there for four years. Yikes! Where has the time gone? Sewing other things I guess. :)

SouthPStitches 03-29-2013 04:29 AM

I haven't touched a thing since last weekend. Guess I can consider this whole week either my spring or easter vacation. Will get back into my sewing room on Monday. This break from all things quilting has been good for me. Now I'm ready and feeling creative again, instead of frazzled and frustrated.

charsuewilson 03-29-2013 04:32 AM

I'm off today, so I'm working on a quilt - D9P for a gift. Still have some cooking and cleaning to do though. Class tomorrow.

kateyb 03-29-2013 04:59 AM

I have a toddler quilt I'm in the process of quilting. Want to finish it today.

Tartan 03-29-2013 05:07 AM

I hope to get some sewing in later today after some housework. Housework, blechhhh!

mighty 03-29-2013 06:37 AM

Working on a quilt for my daughter, but first have to shorten some drapes for her.

Normabeth 03-29-2013 06:45 AM

I wish I could join you in a day of sewing, at work now, have to start Easter cooking when I get home tonight and finish up on Saturday. HAPPY EASTER!!

Kathy Osterby 03-29-2013 07:19 AM

I'll be working on my April Sunbonnet Sue so I can hang it for the month and then I have some big stitch quilting to finish a small wall quilt. Can only hope I can do at least a little of the plan-just have to sew binding on Sue so TV watching and sewing here I come!!

Dolphyngyrl 03-29-2013 08:34 AM

no gonna go have breakfast, and go to the hospital to see my friends new baby girl, no sewing

toolazy 03-29-2013 10:14 AM

Things I have learned so far today:

1. You should probably oil your sewing machine more often than once every 10 years.

2. If you oil your sewing machine, it stops making funny noises.

3. If your grandmother's fan has 9 blades and you are even a smidge off on a couple of them, your fan will not be square.

4. It would be a bright idea to cut the rest of the square so the side edges are on the straight grain instead of the bias. Even if you're using up ugly old fabric because you just oiled the sewing machine.

5. There is a time in everyone's life for enjoying a hot dog (vegetarian or non). That time is now.

I'm getting ready to start a Quilting Marathon weekend! Had only a half day of work, cleaned out the garage, ate lunch and now I'm ready to quilt, quilt, quilt! Glad you have this thread going so I can report in. ***Nan in Indiana ***who's enter key doesn't want to work right now ***

adamae 03-29-2013 11:35 AM

It is all I have been doing today...hand piecing on a project that is probably twenty yrs old, so hopefully I can see the end of it this yr. And, tying a lap quilt for the senior center. I mowed some of my yard yesterday. Today it has been cloudy and rainy.

toolazy 03-29-2013 11:55 AM

And now I can add:

6. A 5-blade fan is a lot more forgiving than a 9-blade. And it is still cute and has the potential to use up lots of smallish bits of fabric.

hummingbird1212 03-29-2013 12:31 PM

I will be piecing today on my way to finishing a block. I'm slow as a sloth but I get there! :)

(It's only my 3rd block)

isewman 03-29-2013 01:00 PM

I did a little bit of everything today. I did some sewing the 1st 1/2of the day, makeing some blocks for this quilting lady friend. Then i sat about 2hrs, and made some liittle safety pin ribbons for our guild's show & tell period of our meeting. Then I cut out the other peice's to make 8 more blocks for the 24 for my lady friend. Now I'm checking out the QB sight. Then I'll go and pin those peices together. And eventually sit down and do some hand quilting on the GFGquilt top I'm working on. And eventually call it a day/night.

Luv Quilts and Cats 03-29-2013 01:26 PM

Glad you got a day of quilting! I didn't sew today, but I am getting together at a friend's house for a day of quilting tomorrow. So tonight I will be packing up what to take. I have been working UFOs and have more to complete. But I am itching to start something new. I may take one of both!

CorgiNole 03-29-2013 05:52 PM

I'll be sewing the next two days. I spent this morning finding bigger clips to set up my table so that I can sandwich a quilt.

Cheers, K

toolazy 03-29-2013 06:00 PM

This evening, trying a little English paper piecing experiment, to see if my project-from-the-black-lagoon would work better this way. So far it's looking like a winner in the "hey! stuff matches!" department. Not much fun to cut and then baste all the little shapes, but just might beat ripping stuff out and resewing it 14 times .... LOL :)

sweetpea 03-29-2013 06:09 PM

Well I don't get to quilt today. BUT i do buy a tub of upholster fabric. will be make bags for the woman shielder at some point.

Nammie to 7 03-29-2013 06:30 PM

I wish! Today was spent getting groceries and working of getting organized to have 18 people for dinner tomorrow - we're having Easter a day early because of other commitments on Sunday. Kids will have an egg hunt after dinner so that will be fun. Won't be able to sew until Monday - if I get the house put back in order on Sunday. Happy Easter.

franc36 03-29-2013 06:46 PM

My day is over; but I was able to work on quilting all afternoon. I cut out and starched a quilt back, marked a quilting design on a quilt top and completed step 2 of the Quilters Club of America Mystery Quilt 8 City Streets. I was pleased with my accomplishments. I love it when I can spend an afternoon quilting.

Yes, I started quilting this topper today, all I have left is the binding.

It's Moda Candy, the fabrics are from Paris Flea Market.

Dragonomine 03-29-2013 07:06 PM

Yup! I had 2 projects in the works but Monday I bought more fabric to make 2 identical quilts (donating one for charity raffle). It took two days to prepare the applique and start hand sewing it and I've only finished 4 blocks. 36 to go then I have to go back and put a circle in them for the center of the flower! Worth it though! The next charity event should bring in about 800 people so at $1.00 a chance we should make a good amount of money I hope!

quiltyfeelings 03-29-2013 09:06 PM

Today I long armed 2 baby quilts for charity, put the borders on a panel, finished an embroidery order for a customer, and continued to REMAKE my daughter's BRAND NEW prom dress :-/

francie yuhas 03-29-2013 09:20 PM

After getting some yard work, laundry, garbage duty, and cooking out of the way,I got to sew! I got the last 2 borders of a quilt as you go 105 square inch bedspread ready to FMQ tomorrow! DH got me a new sewing machine to celebrate my retirement yesterday! Lotsa fun!

petthefabric 03-29-2013 09:21 PM

Yep! Yeh! The Friday "Open Quilt" we started last week, met again today. We had 1 more than last week and several visitors asking about it. I machine sewed binding on last weeks project and added more quilting to a class sample (needs to be finished next week along with another class sample). Been invited to quilt at a friends tomorrow. Sunday is Easter-no sewing. I'm mostly enjoying the friendship.

mom-6 03-29-2013 10:01 PM

Didn't think I would be getting any sewing done with DGS at my house yesterday afternoon / evening and today, but he wanted to go to Grammy's sewing room. So I made him a denim bag with superheroes lining for his iPad and then he decided the throw I made with the hot air balloon swap blocks needed to have fleece on the back and be his. So got that stitched together - just outlining around the balloons this morning and binding done this afternoon. And of course he took that with him for the weekend. Still need to do the binding on the quilt I was actually trying to finish. Lol.

Started a rag quilt yesterday for a gal at church who had a heart attack. Finished up today. Washed and dried!

I need to make something for a young lady who's got a billion health problems. Maybe a jeans purse.

DOTTYMO 03-29-2013 11:15 PM

If today is Saturday will be sewing, thinking or codgitating sewing.

Becky Crafts 03-30-2013 06:14 AM

I was quilting at 4 this morning. Working on a birthday quilt for DGD. I don't like the front, but she does, so I got a backing of Natural Sea Turtles and yesterday I started detailing it for her. I even have enough fabric left over for a
16" pillow for her, to go with it! :-) I'm in Central Florida & will be quilting outside again later. It's a beautiful day!!

Got two jeans purses done. And organized a bunch of fabric, too. Got too many projects in too many containers-------------in various stages of being done

Teeler 03-30-2013 01:06 PM

Yes! I was able to get all but 2 rows completed in my Blooming 9 (LOL- when the rows started getting really long, I stopped and started from the other end of the piles where the rows were shorter so I'd feel like I got "more" done :) )

Will likely finish the rows up tomorrow morning before traveling for Easter with the in-laws.

Nammie to 7 03-30-2013 08:46 PM

Easter egg hunt is done, dinner was a success, most of the clean up is done. Sunday will be spent finishing the clean up and re-organizing my projects for a fresh start on Monday. Sounds like some of you really got a lot done. Doesn't that feel good!

twinkie 03-31-2013 03:43 AM

It is Easter Sunday but I don't have much to do except go to church so I am sure I will be quilting some today. Hope to complete some of my UFO's

helenquilt 03-31-2013 04:12 AM

Happy Easter to you all. I will spend the day at Church Services then a family Easter Egg Hunt at my brothers.
