In addition to the above there’s always heat and bond. Also you could use a shot of spray baste. I use that stuff for everything. Walmart has it for half the price at JAF.

If using glue--try small dots of glue and not a line.

I love Roxannes glue baste it. It seems a little bit pricey for the little bottle. It is worth it's weight in gold. I use it to hold my machine applique in place. The little bottle last forever.

I se Elmer’s school glue to hold my appliqués in place while I hand sew around them, so you could probably use it too while machine sewing.
