I had six out of eight rows completed on my quilt. I completed the other two rows and sewed them together and went to sew them onto the original six. The two new rows are a block shorter than the original six. And of course it's much more complicated than just sewing on another block. Ripping, Ripping, Ripping......... ARGH!!! No sympathies please, just send chocolate.

Tink's Mom 04-17-2011 09:26 AM

UGGG! I understand...yes, chocolate is needed.

babyfireo4 04-17-2011 09:26 AM

MadQuilter 04-17-2011 09:27 AM

Pink-faced admission: That has happened to me too OR I realized that a block or two were just wrong. I did not rip the entire row but just enough to take out the bad parts and set in the new. The only downside to that method is that the seams don't fall in the same direction throughout.

cinnya 04-17-2011 09:29 AM

Chocolate bunny ears on the way lol

TonnieLoree 04-17-2011 09:31 AM

Along with the chocolate, I am sending hugs. It happens to the finest and most prepared as well. Now would be a great time to go scrub your bathroom with a vengence. Take out your frustration on the toilet, and not yourself. :-)

okiepastor 04-17-2011 09:32 AM

I did that once--just added two little blocks to add with name and date, etc. so it would look deliberate!
but of course it depends on the design....
Other times, the ripper gets worn out....

Quilty hugs to you! One night I was so tired that I shouldve stopped sewing. I had a block with pieced units around a solid center. The center was too big but looloobelle here actually just kept going and put a pleat in it. What was I thinking?!? So better to do the ripping now, no fudging, you'll be happier later.

Buckeye Rose 04-17-2011 09:39 AM

been there, done that....am sending a large pitcher of margaritas for you:)

Jill 04-17-2011 09:52 AM

I couldn't begin to tell you how many ways I've screwed up a quilt, but I know it's far too many. For me, I just have to make it right or I know I'll never be happy with the quilt or myself. Sending lots of chocolate....

Okay, I get it. I shall put my seam rippers with some chocolate. Rip and reward.

Summer Spice 04-17-2011 11:12 AM

Empty chocolate box on the way - been there recently....sorry.

Stitchnripper 04-17-2011 11:18 AM

I agree with wine and chocolate which usually helps me through these same kinds of situations, with all too much frequency!!!

gunny148 04-17-2011 11:26 AM

I worked real hard on a cherokee star and when i got it all most one star itself the thing was a fraction off rir..rip

QuiltSage 04-17-2011 11:50 AM

OK. I ripped it out and fixed it. The top is now ready for borders. Thanks for the support. Hugs and margaritas to all. XXOO. -Sage

Or, how about some chocolate wine? I just got some at Costco. Seems like it would be perfect for such situations.

rexie 04-17-2011 07:41 PM

I keep chocolate right by my machine. Those Hershey's Drops are just the berries.

Becky13 04-17-2011 07:45 PM

Godiva is on its way!

Vat 04-18-2011 03:36 AM

trolleystation 04-18-2011 08:41 AM

I fee your pain! Been there - done that - Chocolate Helps!

Fabricnut 04-18-2011 04:51 PM

I wish you could share your chocolate and wine with me. I'm making a purse for DIL and tried free motion quilting on it. It isn't pretty. So now I think I better rip it out and try just straight stitching instead.

GramaLaura 04-18-2011 05:13 PM

I know how you feel....been best friends with my seam ripper for 2 days now

Homemother 04-18-2011 05:31 PM

Congrats on getting it back together. Do we get to see a picture? BTW: I had some chocolate for you. It was sooooooothing!

butterflies5518 04-18-2011 05:41 PM

chocolate and wine to the rescue!

g-maquilts 04-18-2011 06:14 PM

That's funny because I just came upstairs from my sewing room because I sewed all my browns to cream instead of blue. I knew I should have quit when I got tired. I guess we can both rip tomorrow.HaHa

My time 04-18-2011 06:30 PM

Oh man we've all been there. Make sure you show us when it's done ok.

Grandma Peg 04-18-2011 06:51 PM

As much fun as quilting is it can also be a pain (when it comes to ripping). But it is always worth it in the end. Hugs.

PJisChaos 04-18-2011 06:51 PM

Oh how awful! I do feel your pain though, walked into the studio last night only to find that my "darling" kitty, Stitch, had ripped 2 of the squares in the middle of the quilt on the design wall. If I could have found him at that moment, I am sure he would have been hitching down the road. GRRRR!!

Windsong 04-18-2011 07:02 PM

Been there, done that. I'm having a glass of wine for you!
