PATTERN IS CALLED WINNER'S BOUQUET......IT DOES USE TEMPLATES, BUT IN ARTFUL QUILTER (LOCAL SHOP HERE IN NO. VA) THEY HAD A SAMPLE DONE WITH THE ORIENTAL FABRICS WITH AN IVORY BACKGROUND AND IT IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL............THE PIC ON THE PATTERN IS NOT AS NICE AS THE REAL THING..........

I am a real fan of asian fabrics and am in the process of creating a table runner incorporating the bargello. I also wanted to incorporate the Japanees symbols for live, love and laugh, but have not been successful in finding a way to do this in an oversize style. May need to put in fans instead. It's hard to describe, but the bargello is in the center and the top right and bottom left are spaces that are perfect for placing either a set of the symbols or one of the other patterns. All this is on a background of faintly gold speckle on ivory to create a table runner or wall hanging. Maybe this would be an idea to get used to working with these fabrics which are absolutely gorgeous.

Marilyn,

Your table runner sounds gorgeous. Please post photos when you get it all done!

I seem to be stuck with the design to use the Asian fabrics. I can't get it to look exactly how I want in EQ but this is close. I would applique the spokes of the parasol in the middle with a beige woodgrain fabric I have and turn the fans so that the tassels are all towards the center.

There are blenders in all the color ranges I got so those would be the backgrounds and/or the centers of the fans.

It's just a design with large pieces to show the fabrics. They don't show well in the parasol because EQ6 makes the pattern repeat so tiny.

I love your design, that EQ seems to be a very handy tool to have.

I like the way you can see large areas of the fabrics used too.

That is so lovely. Your Asian fabrics will be shown off so well.

Can't wait to see your photos as you work on your quilt.

No suggestions here. What a beautiful array of fabrics, I think I would hate to even cut into them. I'm sure whatever quilt you decide, it will be fabulous!

Why not use real tassels if you want. Especially if this is going to be a wall hanging. They are easy to make yourself. I usually use a heavier embroider thread to make mine for purses etc.

I was thinking of that, wondering how small of tassels I could find. I didn't think of making them myself.
