I think it helps visually, if using the example of "citruscountyquilter" above. Where the cats are sitting, make that a little wider, so it seems like there is something big enough to sit on. The the front of the window, kinda looks blue, that should be thinner, like in the picture, as a real window would be. Lordy, does any of that make sense?? LOL

Pollytink, thank you for the site. Attic window is about third down on my list and this is great information.

Cheryl Philips web site (designer of Quilts without Corners) has a short tute on attic windows with no Y seams.

also, put it up on your wall and step back from it, sometimes if you're right up on it you just can't see it.

Looking at it through a camera helps, too. I couldn't see the effect of mine until I did that. |

Here's a link to an article and directions for making Attic Windows using an HST in the corner instead of a Y-seam.

Citruscountyquilter, I can see the dark green and light green, but on the narrow black strip for the edge...do you mean all the way around the window pane? Thank you for the answer. Looks really nice.
Marcia in TX "I used three colors. Dark green for the sides of the box, light green for the bottom of the box and a narrow black strip of black for the edge of the box." |
Thanks for the HST info, looks like that's the way to go on attic windows! Love the Santa wall hanging, So lifelike huh? I'll have to remember the thin dark sashing piece under the window bottom when I do one, that really enhances it. And love the cats citruscountryquilter! Now I wish I had a panel of cats to cut up LoL.
