Aunt Jen's Stamp Quilt pattern
 

Hello, does anyone know if there's a pattern for this around?

I can deconstruct it enough to figure out how to make it but I can't get it down to a block, I still have strips in between. Would love some help! Thanks!

I would make the blocks as outlined, then treat the strips as pieced sashing.
How big are you going to make your squares? It's a fantastic quilt!

Don't know a pattern - but if i were going to do this i'd make 2 different blocks...one would be the one you have in the corner - the other block would be the one to the right of that, but made to include the extra row on the left and bottom. If you look at the pattern - that second block would be most of the blocks in the quilt... it is the edges of the quilt that are messing up your pattern.

IMHO, if you try to leave out that extra row, you will affect the overall pattern. If I was in your shoes, I would follow the pattern, as closely as possible. Most older Postage Stamp quilts are cut into 1 1/2" squares, that finish off at 1". If you take that one inch row of squares out of your equation, then your overall quilt will be a little smaller than you expect it to be, but that will also take away the "points" of each blue square. I am in the process of making a Postage Stamp quilt, (cut at 2", finish off at 1 1/2"), because I want to use up all those gazillions of squares. (Actually, mine will use close to 2000 squares, and they will all be hand sewn - busy work while I watch tv, or ride in the car)

I am sewing my squares into blocks that are 7 squares x 7 squares, to make it easier to handle, then will sew those together until I get to king size. The 7x7 blocks finish off at 10 1/2".
Love the secondary pattern of the blue squares. What a neat place for some intricate quilting to highlight those blocks.

I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood the question you were asking. When I clicked on the link, I saw the description of the quilt, and the number of square inches in that quilt. I thought it already belonged to your Aunt Jen, but I think you are wanting to make one similar to that?
You were asking if there is a pattern for this? As nearly as I know, you would just sew your squares together until you get a block of desired size, then sew the blocks together to form your pattern. You can deconstruct it, as you have indicated, or graph it out, but I would still leave in that "extra row". That quilt finished at 81-82x107", so the are LOTS of squares in that. Even just taking away that extra row would alter the finished size. What size do you want it to be?

Personally, I think your looking at the squares wrong. It looks almost like a darker square in the center of the scraps where the X's cross. It's basically an Irish Chain and that center is really wide made up of smaller squares. Those white blocks can be made easier with a square and rectangles. That's how my pattern did the white squares.

What a beautiful quilt! If you find a pattern please post the source-I am not talented enough to figure that one out on my own!

If I were going about it, I'd use the Around the World pattern:

and then I'd have several white strips added to the end of the strips making the tube. I actually think the individual block you've isolated is two pieces...or maybe one set of tubes cut and then reassembled...I'm probably not making sense, but see if the link helps you at all...

I think I have figured a way to go about it. Here's a pic if anyone's interested. Also THANK YOU!! for all ideas/suggestions. This is the way I see it. Just one block, a 49-patch (7x7) and sashing is one patch wide, either plain or all colors, cornerstones are blue that surrounds light areas.

Oops - just noticed I put a cornerstone in the center of the white area. That's easily changed - make those cornerstones white instead.

Oops - goofed again - just looked at first picture and realized I need more sashing. Darn. Back to work.
