campy 01-24-2011 02:46 PM

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

OneMoreQuilt 01-24-2011 02:48 PM

I would.

Jennifer22206 01-24-2011 02:48 PM

sure would if the price is right! I love to work in miniature, and I'm collecting fabrics for my Dear Jane quilt since I'd like each block done in a different fabric.

msariano 01-24-2011 03:55 PM

I have purchased these samples at quilt shows. the LQS would probably price them too high.

jitkaau 01-24-2011 04:21 PM

Yes, I obtain a lot of material that way, We generally buy it from the local charity for a cheap price and also from the decorating shops. I prefer to but these as you get a nice variety.

penski 01-24-2011 04:27 PM

i would if the price was right and there was no glue on the scraps

jojosnana 01-24-2011 04:32 PM

yup I would.

craftymatt2 01-24-2011 04:36 PM

Grab-it while you can

quiltjoey 01-24-2011 04:36 PM

I would buy them!

sdarga 01-24-2011 04:43 PM

Yes, I have bought these at my local quilt shop. They have a "samples sale" I find them a great way to add to my stash.

Minister 01-24-2011 05:29 PM

I have purchased these types of sample bundles by the pound from a regional sales rep who works for a textile distributor. She stores all of her samples in her garage or in her van. Once a particular fabric collection is out of print and is no longer being sold to quilt shops she needs to make room for the new stuff. I spent $120 and got 30 lbs. (equivalent of 90 yds. total) and have the makings of many gorgeous scrappy quilts as well as some full panels and borders. Removing the cardboard headers is a bit tedious when purchasing that much but her DH and my DH were nice enough to help me do that before we weighed it all. I can't wait to pay her another visit!

allie 01-24-2011 05:45 PM

i pay 5.50 pound for it

bonitagaye 01-24-2011 05:56 PM

I would...if the price was right! and on SALE!!
Our little LQS went out of business and I KNOW it was because she had absolutely no SALE table! AND the number one reason she went down is because she did not have a sign on the main road! What a shame!!!

doowopddbop 01-24-2011 06:17 PM

Absolutely!! These can be really fun in your own quilts, or piece them together for a quick charity quilt project.

Rann 01-24-2011 06:44 PM

So, what's the question?

Sandynorm 01-24-2011 06:46 PM

yes I would, and I have. Got a couple of rolls of hoffman Christmas samples at a quilt show, with all the golds... made a beautiful Christmas tablecloth.

I made this cover from those
And made the vest also from another line

If the price is right I sure would I love the scrappy quilt block effect.

neeng 01-24-2011 07:33 PM

Absolutely.

grammysharon 01-24-2011 09:40 PM

Yes if I liked the fabric :-D :-D :-D

Quiltaddict 01-24-2011 10:40 PM

Sometimes our LQS sells them individually, not in bags. Prices vary depending on how large and how many pieces are in the set. They also offer some of them free to volunteers who make charity quilts there. I love using them and when the price is right I do buy them.

VernaL 01-24-2011 11:15 PM

Our LQS used to have these for sale for a very reasonable price and I used to buy them all the time. When I bought them, they were all stapled to the cardboard top. They were great.

Cuddly Quilter 01-25-2011 02:34 AM

I would and i have. Enjoy

I think selling by the bag will not work as people might not like everything in it unless it is from the same line and it matches.

Pay it forward: Take what you like out of it and pass it on.

I did the same with drapery samples. I pulled the book apart and cut off the stapled/glued side. I sorted all of the pieces into 100% cotton and cotton/poly or cotton/linen. I made a beautiful scrappy quilt with the 100% cotton. Used a beige lightweight denim as my blender.

There's a little sentimentality to this story. The book had been given to me by a cousin who owned an interior design shop. He passed away so after the quilt was finished, I gave it to his younger brother. He treasures it.

Stogsdill 01-25-2011 11:44 AM

This is such a great idea. I have just started quilting and have no stash.

Bev 01-28-2011 04:53 PM

Sure I would. If the price was right. What's not to like? I buy small pieces and scraps of all kinds, not too much difference there. 8-)

Pzazz 01-28-2011 05:18 PM

When I was buying from the wholesalers they used to toss those at the end of the season!!! What I wouldn't give to have some of them now. :)

I LOVE mystery bundles. There are more of my tribe in every community, I am sure! <wave>

Yes, as long as the quality of the fabric had not been compromised in any way and the price was decent.
