I have made some. I went to AC Moores and bought a projector and then traced one on the board and then painted it. I looked on the internet and one site said to put two coats of primer on the board first, then three coats of good outside paint. I had a plywood board cut with two 3x 3 and a couple of 2x2. Use a good grade of plywood. I made he bear paw pattern, and one wth three three pines, set on point. just used my quilt books to find a block I liked. I also made one called the "Peony". I want to do a dresden plate next, just trying to figure out how to put the designs on the different colors. They are great. We have a cabin in a small development and I am making one for eash cabin(12 If I can ever figre out how to attach a picture I will send one.

Ohio had its Bicentenial in 2003. We have 88 counties so the quilts were "painted " on them. There was a book out at that time with a picture of each and where to find the barn.

Oh WOW these are beautiful. I would love to take a tour around the country and see all these beautiful blocks and barns.
Being in Ca. it would be quite a trip but sounds like fun.
I would like to put a block on our garage doors, That's my project for this summer along with a million other things that have to get done around the house.

Heck why not? I have seen other signs on roofs address etc.
i think a quilt block or a few blocks that would look like a whole quilt would be neat.
If you do it please show us a picture.
Be careful of the roof don't step back to admire your work.
Can't wait to see a picture of your roof. not sure how you will get a picture though?

I got looking on the Web and a guy makes 2'x2' or 4'x 4' and sells them finished. He has a lot of samples.
they run $149. for the 2x2 and I forgot what the 4x4 are.

You usally put it on the side or towards the peak of the roof on the end. We have a quilt trail here in NC and its fun to follow. I saw one that was probably 8 x 8. Now that was a big one but beautiful.

MissM, This is a wonderful website. It would be so easy to make anyone of these designs, just by drawing the square onto plywood and painting with an assortment of exterior paints. Thanks for the idea. Eiltcoq.
