I was on a quilt hop a few months back and found some jelly rolls in batik...normally I would buy batik or jelly rolls for that matter but the colors were stunning...I now have to decide what to make with them...
I rarely use batiks, usually if I do it would be to get a stained glass look, or to make a quilt for someone who does like batiks, maybe for a clothing item. I can't say I hate them...just not a fabric that is the look that I like for most of my quilting.
I, too, am not fond of batiks. Maybe it is an acquired taste.
I agree with you - I can't get enthused about batiks either.
I don't especially like the way they feel. Very crisp, not cozy. Some of the color combinations are very pretty though.<button id="smartswipe_doc_changed_button_id" style="display: none ! important;" smartswipe_uniqid="44e3cb46-02e9-40d7-9cb0-c06606c4ba0f"></button>

I LOVE the varying patterns; however, I do not like how thin the fabric tends to be. I have yet to buy any.
I think they are hard to work with. They seem to stretch on me. Just as well they are so expensive.

OOooohhh I just LOVE batiks!! I made my mother a birthday quite with the colors of her birthstone Golden Topaz mixed with blocks of awesome floral!! She fell in love with it and I was sooo happy!! I have loads of other colors I don't know what I'll do with but...just to look and feel of them is good enough!!
BUT ya don't have to like what ya don't like!!! Be your own person!!! It's what makes the world go around!! :D |
I love batiks. Prints come and go but I think batiks are timeless. My stash is full of them.
I absolutely HATED batiks for the longest time. My friend reps for a batik manufacturer and I had all of his old samples without a clue what to do with them. I made some (well, more like a couple hundred) of my little zip bags and I was hooked. I now simply love them.
