I make at least 20 Linus quilts a month. I make very simple ones. I pick out a kid friendly print and back it with flannel in a coordinating color. I then machine quilt it with a decorative stitch and thread about every 4 inches. I use the flip and sew method as if I were making a pillowcase but including the batting in the sandwhich. I buy rolls of batting at Joanns, usually on sale that come 48" by ten yards. I usually make the quilts 1 1/2 yard wide by the width of the fabric. I try and pick boy friendly or gender neutral prints. Our local county Linus Chapter produces an average of 600 Linus blankets a month. I also purchase fleece when it is on the remnet counter and big enough pieces for Linus blankets. I purchased a special rotary blade that punches a whole every half inch or so. If run that along the edge of the fleece and can then chrochet a decorative edge around the whole piece. Ironically my county only has one hospital. We supply Linus blankets for at least half of the hospitals in the Baltimore area.

Just mentioning - in case you didn't know - Quilting Treasures is coming out with an official "Project Linus" fabric collection next month. They're very cute! http://www.favoritefabric.com/cgi/co...treasures.html

Here's a picture of one of them.
