My thought was, also, the attic window with the birds fussy cut. It would be the cutest!

damaquilts 10-11-2011 04:55 AM

I would probably use it as a center panel on a quick type quilt. But then again I am lazy. lol

AUQuilter 10-11-2011 04:56 AM

Love the runner idea! So many options given that are great here on the QB.

Pink Dogwood 10-11-2011 04:58 AM

My vote is for the 10 minute table runner (Ilove them) or 4 placemats. Very pretty fabric and you are right...too pretty to cut.

Too nice to whack apart.

I was thinking tablerunner since the piece is so long...just add a couple of borders...

That was my first thought too - table runner! I just made my first one last night and it was so quick I wanted to do more!

SandyMac 10-11-2011 05:42 AM

What a great piece of fabric ,were did you get it?

Val in IN 10-11-2011 05:46 AM

All great ideas. It's definitely screaming "Fussy cut me"!!

debby wicke 10-11-2011 05:56 AM

Anything can be made from this fabric...I love it. How about a quilt, etc.

snicktrain 10-11-2011 06:15 AM

I like the idea of adding borders - for size - then just outline quilting. The fabric is too cute to cut up. ;)

Fuuny, last night I was at guild, and the speaker was Sally Schneider. She said that she had a favorite fabric that for years she just kept in her stash. Then she finally decided to use it, and cut it into small pieces, and now she enjoys it in several quilts (she does scrappy). Even though there is just one small piece on a quilt, it is her favorite block on that quilt, just because of that fabric and it always makes her smile. So, she said - cut it up!

suzm 10-11-2011 06:37 AM

I could use that if you want to sell it.

great suggestion. Be sure to make squares large enough to save your designs.

unclefreckles 10-11-2011 07:28 AM

I wouldn't cut it up, you would lose the designs. Use it in something that will at least show a large part of the designs together. I like the fabric.

G-maBecky 10-11-2011 08:26 AM

You could use the whole piece, add some borders, & make it a prayer shawl for someone who likes birds. :-D

Iamquilter 10-11-2011 08:57 AM

I was first thinking to fussy cut it, but there isn't enough space betwen the bird houses, you would be cutting into the next house, so I would use as a table runner and add border. Love the fabric.

quilter2theend 10-11-2011 10:24 AM

Yup, make a table runner or snowglobe piece. They would look really nice if you put them on point too. Maybe use a robin egg blue for borders or sashing? Thinking out loud :)

Sandra in Minnesota 10-11-2011 10:28 AM

Wow, you are getting some great ideas!

kathy6696 10-11-2011 10:36 AM

I agree, table runner or place mats. Love the fabric.

Debbie C 10-11-2011 12:01 PM

Bed Runner? Tote Bag? Place Mats? Curtains? Way too cute to cut up small!!

dltaylor 10-11-2011 12:03 PM

something for the deck or patio...table runner, placemats...I love the fabric

madamekelly 10-11-2011 12:11 PM

After studying it, I can see that you could cut diamonds around the bird houses, and frame them, to create a spring quilt. Kaffe Facett (sp?) has a pattern for it.

charlie 1940 10-11-2011 12:55 PM

You can make it a big attic window. Cut it evenly and add the window sections. This gives it a look through the window; so you really are not losing the motifs, the mind fills in the sections covered by the window frames.

I have made two Lisa Moore Quilts, have a look on line at Lisa Moore Quilts with a Twist. They are like a stained glass window, I hope this works but have attached a picture of one I have done.

I thought of fussy cutting the bird houses too. Then your choice of patterns could be endless for how you want to combine them. good Luck!

Mona Lisa 2011 10-11-2011 02:15 PM

fussy cut quilt blocks?

Judy- I love this- what a great idea for this type of panel! I have never seen Lisa Moore's work before...

ManiacQuilter2 10-11-2011 03:57 PM

I have the SAME fabric but with a blue background. I am using it as the border and backing of a Debbie Mumm applique wall hanging.

babeyruth 10-11-2011 06:57 PM

I would fussy cut the bird houses with the birds when possible

Would make a great table runner for the spring!

pal 10-11-2011 07:56 PM

I'd make a valance for the kitchen window, with plain white for the bottoms and a table cloth or runner for the table.

katigirl 10-11-2011 11:44 PM

It would also make a cute wallhanging if you fussy cut the little birdhouses and such.

KLO 10-13-2011 07:31 AM

After seeing the photo of your fabric, I immediately went into my closet as I knew I had some of this. Turns out I have a yard with a brown background (looks darker than your background but that might just be the computer) and another much smaller piece with a white background. So, back I go to read through all the postings to see what great ideas the QB came up with for it's use. What have you decided to do with yours?

mrs. fitz 10-13-2011 07:12 PM

IMO it's great the way it is and shouldn't be cut up. Someone already suggested this - add borders and use it as a runner.

OneMoreQuilt 10-13-2011 07:15 PM

Too pretty to chop up unless you fussy cut some of the birdhouses for large blocks. It's a great piece.

I agree with Janice... it's too pretty to whack up. Pick some of the colors from it to make some pinwheels or another pattern, or just plain strips or charm pack squares, to expand it to the size you'd need for a quilt back.
