I am so happy that you have found the fun again. Every once in a while I also take a beginner's class; they are always a good refresher and I almost always learn a new trick or 2.

If you ever get a chance to take a class from Debbie Caffrey, do so! I did at the Houston show and she really helped my rotary cutting skills. She has a dvd out with Charlotte Angoti that I highly recommend!

Sometimes we need to do the KISS attitude ..Keep it simple silly .. and that is what I did when first starting (books, friends/family/neighbors, videos and any articles I could get my hands on), and that was oh so many years ago !LOL Its a total shame I didn't learn more from my grandmother prior to her passing.
The KISS method is something that a good friend taught me along time ago when I was 20, and I have lived with that motto for years in everything I do ...Keeps me from getting so doggone frustrated for sure !

I learned from books (no Internet back then and I didn't know about quilt shops!) and learned a lot. BUT-----how I love the current ways of learning! Youtube, blogs, websites....it's getting better all the time!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

I really recommend taking one beginner class even if you are "not a class person". I am self taught and taught myself some stuff (rotary cutting among them) so that I do things really strangely, though what I do works for me. Best to learn right the first time!!!!

I had to chuckle about you saying you almost turned in your stash. Goodness, is that an option? I have felt that way too at times but I like to pet my fabric too much. Keep on stitching!

Some times I take classes at LQS just to get out of the house and see others who have some common interests. I love projects that I can finish quickly so I get some satisfaction immediately.

Great words of advice. I'm stumped on a quilt at the moment. When I eventually get it done, I'm going to make a baby quilt as a reward.

Glad that you found a little relief and fun with another project. That is why so many of us have too many UFOs. Quilting should be fun !!
