We lost our Ben Franklin 10-15 years ago. Hated to see it go.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-01-2011 04:00 PM

Redmond store is still open.

quiltbugs 02-01-2011 05:38 PM

Kingsport, TN has a great Ben Franklins. I could (and have) spent hours in there.

Becca Bear 02-01-2011 05:44 PM

I loved the Ben Franklin store that was in my area. It closed over 15 years ago. Ididn't know there were any stores remaining open since I was told our store was closing because the corporation filed for bankruptcy.

Quiltforme 02-01-2011 07:25 PM

Oh and Monroe Wa still has their Ben Franklins just an fyi

tigger5464 02-01-2011 07:38 PM

Iowa City still has a Ben Franklin store. Haven't heard anything about them closing yet but haven't been there since before christmas either. Hope it isn't going to either. :)

The Creative Seamstress 02-01-2011 07:40 PM

Their online store has deals sometimes. Our store closed too about 2 years ago...

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

We still have a Ben Franklin. It moved from it's old location to an empty Circuit City bldg. not long ago. Now that it is closer, I find myself going more often. They have a decent selection and the prices are fairly good and most weeks, the fabrics are 25% off.

so sorry...ours closed about 5 years ago...miss them.

Momofthree 02-01-2011 11:07 PM

I haven't been to one in 20 years!! I loved it too. It was in Rexburg, ID, don't know if it is still open.

girlsfour 02-02-2011 04:22 AM

We had a Ben Franklin years ago in the small Wisconsin town of Spooner where our cabin is.

What I hadn't even realized is that it hadn't been called Ben Franklin in years. What the owner told me was what I guess would be the franchise fees and how expensive they were. They decided to keep the store open but drop the Ben Franklin part of the name. Those little stores have great deals on small notions like stuffed animal eyes and magnetic snaps. Love 'em!

We have one in Mitchell Indiana and I love it. A few years ago they moved into a larger building and Ace Hardware is in the other half. They have unique gift items you dont see other places and lots of fabric.

AlienQuilter 02-02-2011 05:02 AM

Last year we went to the one on the same block as Fons and Porter. Found some great deals. Surprised that they had more fabric than Fons and Porter.

#1piecemaker 02-02-2011 05:05 AM

I didn't know they even had a Ben Franklin sore anymore. I loved those. We always went there when I was a child. I loved the toy isle.

tealady 02-02-2011 05:33 AM

I'm sorry. I was in that store a few months ago. My dh and I took a trip back to his hometown (waynesboro). My dil has one in her hometown that she just loves.

LindaR 02-02-2011 05:36 AM

we have one in our small town...get most of my backings there

CarrieAnne 02-02-2011 05:37 AM

We still have one near here. I love that store!

Yooper32 02-02-2011 05:47 AM

Oh, I bet my daughter is going to have a "hissy". That is one of her favorite fabric stops and I always find "just the right" fabric when I am over there visiting and we go to Waynsborough. I just love that store.

Yooper32 02-02-2011 05:49 AM

Oh, nuts and sorry. I spelled it wrong, but I am still just as disappointed.

quiltmom04 02-02-2011 06:35 AM

You're lucky you got to keep yours so long. Ours has been gone for years - replaced by Michaels, which isn't as good, I don't think.

MaggieLou 02-02-2011 06:49 AM

There's still a Ben Franklin in Mocksville, NC for anyone close to the Winston-Salem or Statesville area.

mudose8 02-02-2011 07:27 AM

There's one in Delavan,WI. It had been closed for a few years, but re-opened in a different location. Still about 20 miles from where I live.

CarolLady 02-02-2011 07:37 AM

The one that was around here closed probably 30 plus years ago. And I thought we were the only place that had one. lol

SandyMac 02-02-2011 07:58 AM

Didn't know there were any left.

meesabell 02-02-2011 08:04 AM

We still have one that I know of in our area and its within walking distance from me! Maybe I should take a picture if it ever closes!

Sophie2 02-02-2011 08:09 AM

We still have our Ben Franklin. I'm glad because the next closest quilt shop is an hour away. Guess I better go buy more fabric so they stay open :)!

mimee4 02-02-2011 08:25 AM

I'm so sorry to hear your Ben Franklins are or have closed. There is one nearby and I love, love, love that store. The fabric is only good stuff at a fairly decent price and they have sales every month. And they invite you back by having the candles and all that pretty stoneware right in the front!!

SittingPretty 02-02-2011 08:33 AM

We lost ours, too, several years ago, and I really miss them. I think they have the same parent company as Michaels, but our Michaels doesn't have any fabric. It has a huge scrapbooking section (almost half the store), but small in all the other areas.

I have heard of a Ben Franklin. What kind of store is it?

Wendy Keys 02-02-2011 09:00 AM

I didn't know there were still any of those stores in business. The closest one to us was 9 miles away and it closed some 10-15 years ago too. Lots of tears over that closing!
