Just wanted to ask who has bought the Bendable Bright Light? If you have, do you find it helpful, or not so much?

no1jan 05-17-2010 03:15 PM

I have an Ott Lite and I love it! Mine is not one of the bendable ones, but I plan on buying one for another machine and will be getting the bendable kind.

My SIL bought the bendable one and she loves it also.

The light is like daylight. You can see acurately even on dark fabrics. I sew a lot during the night, so this is great for me!

isewhegolf 05-17-2010 03:19 PM

I have a bendable bright light and absolutely love it! Puts the light right where I need it - these 60-something eyes aren't what they used to be. You can point it right on the sewing foot or in front of it, or flex it toward you for ripping. Well worth the price.

debbieumphress 05-17-2010 03:20 PM

I have the bendable light you attach to the sewing machine and it is great. I can really see now. It has been wonderful. Cost a little more than the big lights but so worth it. This is the one you attach to the machine with a hook and it's right next to your needle and you can move it around too. Hope this helps.

MadQuilter 05-17-2010 03:57 PM

If I needed to get another one, that is the one I would opt for. I have a desk light (Ott-ish) and it is a huge space waster plus the way the arm extends is anywhere but where I need it.

Dee Dee 05-17-2010 04:06 PM

I am not that far away from 60 myself and I know what you mean about the eyes not seeing what they once did.

granniebj 05-17-2010 04:10 PM

I could sure use one! Are they expensive?

Prices vary -around $27.99 - $49.99 from what I've found. Has anyone seen them for less?

Linda B 05-17-2010 05:30 PM

Love mine, too.

sweet 05-17-2010 05:41 PM

It's good to know that they work real good!

Jim's Gem 05-17-2010 06:23 PM

I have one, ummmmmm have not applied it to my machine yet. It's only been sitting around here about........ a year or so!!

carolevidak 05-17-2010 07:20 PM

I bought mine at Joanne's in the sewing machine dept. They wouldn't let me use my Joanne coupon for 40% off, but said if you bring in the coupon from Joanne's that is in the paper we will give you the 40% off. I did and they did. Don't ask - I have no idea why but I got my 40% off LOL

The bendable bright light that attaches to your machine is the best thing since sliced bread IMHO. I love that litle jewel! I can actually sew at night with just a lamp on in the room & see very well. And it does not put off any heat!

CRH 05-17-2010 09:33 PM

I like mine, too. I put one on each machine!!

shopaholic97 05-18-2010 05:53 AM

My DH bought me one for Christmas & I loved it so much that I bought another for one of my other machines. I could have moved it between machines but just thought this was easier. It really made a big difference for me.

I was given one for Christmas and loved it so much on my "home" machine that I purchased a second one for my "travel machine" I have an Elna Quilters Dream at home and a Janome Jem for going to retreats, classes, etc. Neither one had very good light and "I can see clearly now" Worth every penny!

fabricluvr 05-18-2010 07:18 AM

i just ordered 2 of them from quilting-warehouse.com. the total was $61.65 (usps shipping incl). got one for me and one for mom. if mom doesn't like it, i'll put it on my second machine!

JackieG 05-18-2010 08:33 AM

One of the best purchases I ever made was my bendable Ott light. It's a desk top lamp, so I can take anywhere to do my hand sewing, crafts, reading, or taking out stitches when it's too dark and I can't see!

Melinda in Tulsa 05-18-2010 08:40 AM

I *love* my bendable light and would love to have another one for my class machine. Yes, they are kinda pricey, but *so* worth it. I do think the extra holders are terribly overpriced and would just as soon buy another light.

reach for the stars 2 05-18-2010 09:43 AM

I just love it.A little pricey but worth it

I got mine at the quilt show in Paducah. It was $49.99 which I thought was kinda high. However, after I got it home and put it on my machine, I think it's worth it.

sewnsewer2 05-18-2010 10:54 AM

OMG it is like night and day for me! I got mine at quilterswarehouse.com

I was skeptical at first, but I got it, and OMG what a difference it makes! I don't think I could sew without it any more. Plus if I have to rip out a seam, or thread a hand needle, I just point the light where I need it. It is WELL worth the money!

Joeysnana 05-18-2010 11:41 AM

I just saw on Joann's a light-Mighty Bright Vusion Craft light for $25 and there is a 50% coupon to apply. Has anyone tried this light yet?

Kitsie 05-18-2010 01:04 PM

I agree with others. I do like my bendable especially for applique and detail like that. I noticed that like Sidewinders, they are now coming down to a more reasonable price. I also wanted an Ott light but the prices are prohibitive! I found a table standing HD florescent for under $30.00. Love it!

Dee Dee 05-18-2010 01:21 PM

Thanks so much for those great comments. Sounds like it's a winner! I ordered one from Quilting Warehouse. They have it on sale for $27.95 if anyone is interested. Shipping is a little over $7.00.

hi joeysnana - is this the one?

http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...ID=xprd1002320

if so, i think it looks nice for table work, but not sure around the machine - seems it would get in the way?

Yes I have two - it's a terrific light. Have retired both my Ott lights.
I've not seen them at Joann's and all the LQS that I frequent charge c. $50.

I don't know what they are. I have a bendy book light that clips on to your book. Is it somthing like that? And where do you get it?

IrishNY 05-18-2010 02:03 PM

After reading this thread this morning, I went online and ordered it from Joanns. Using the 50% off coupon, it came to $25 plus shipping and tax. I think it was about $31 total. I can't wait for it to arrive.

THE ONE THAT YOU SHOW FROM JOANN'S IS NOT THE BRIGHT BENDABLE.

THAT'S IT AND THAT'S A GREAT PRICE.
THANKS FOR THE INFO.

lots2do 05-18-2010 02:13 PM

When I was in Joann's recently, I saw a similar light (to the Bendable). They had bright colors like green, blue and purple. It looked a little bigger - the part you stick on your machine and I think it uses batteries. It is an economical choice if it works well. (seemed like a good price)

gailw 05-18-2010 05:15 PM

I bought one that attaches to my sewing machine a few months ago and would not trade it for anything. It is absolutely great on blacks and dark colors. As mentioned before, it is great for ripping out also.

tcnmom 05-18-2010 08:53 PM

I bought one 6 months ago and haven't attached. Out of sight out of mind.

Gramof6 05-18-2010 09:52 PM

I checked Jo Ann's here & they do not carry the Bendable Bright Light. The bendable bright light is electric and sticks to your machine with a sticky pad then has little sticky hooks you attach to the back of your machine to run the cord through. Quilting-Warehouse has the cheapest price I have ever found them. I've bought sev. for Christmas gifts last year & have 2 for myself. I love them.

renda 05-19-2010 02:05 AM

Two B's in Topping VA have them for $39.95. Of course shipping would be added Their # is 804-758-2642

elliot 05-19-2010 03:38 AM

I just bought one from Quilting-Warehouse.com it was only $27.95. Everywhere else it is selling for $40-$55. Even with shipping and an extra mount it was less than I could get it from anywhere else I had looked.

Ma for Aadyn 05-19-2010 04:32 AM

I have a bendable light and I love it. I also have a ott light and I use both . You can aim the bendable light right on the needle and it really helps . At least it does me.

lynmh 05-19-2010 04:52 AM

yes, I have the bendable and LOVE it. Can direct the light just where I want it for FM. Especially good when using invisible thread to quilt with.
