Proud owner of a Janome 8900 QCP purchased earlier this year. I love it! I have just completed my first FMQ project on a bed quilt, and that huge throat space was fabulous!

I have had Bernina in the past with no problems. Switched to Janome 5 yrs ago and love it! I now have Janome Horizon 12000 see and embroidery machine and glad I spent the extra $$ for it. Go to Janine.com and locate a Janine dealer near you . Best wishes!

I have a Jonome and & it is great. I made over 1000 beads of courage bags and 100 pillow cases and quilts and it still goes and is always ready for my pedal to the medal sewing!

I have both the machines you are looking at. Both have small throat suggest you look at the juki range with more room in throat. The BSR I find is not all it's made out to be often forget to use it with no problem. The bernina does have the smallest throat, just finished a single bed size quilt it was a nightmare at times

I had a Janome 6500 Memory Craft professional and loved it. Did great free motion quilting and NEVER had to touch the tension on it for FMQ.....only sold it just recently....good luck in your search.

I worked in a shop that sold Berninas and could have bought a new one at a greatly reduced price. That said, I bought a Janome. When I would teach classes and the quilters brought in their Berninas there was always at least one in the bunch that would not sew and had to be serviced. That never happened with the Janomes...

I'm a huge fan of Janome. My very first machine was a Kenmore that has taken an amazing amount of abuse and neglect and still works great - I found out it was made by Janome years later. I have a 6600 now and I love it. I adore vintage machines and sew on them a lot too, but my 6600 is a pleasure to sew on and everybody who touches it loves it. My 10-year old niece has informed me that machine is "actually" hers but she'll let me keep it at my house until she's old enough to have her own house, lol. Who knows, by the time she moves out I just *might* give it to her!

Leah Day uses a 210 to piece with? Very interesting..can anyone say why she prefers it for that?
