By "gem" do you mean the machine or the husband?

Beachbaby12 12-09-2015 05:36 AM

Wow you are truly blessed! Congratulations on your new Babylock machine - I know you love it! Would love to have one and it's funny, it's been a daydream of mine too - thought of the Babylock Melody - not as sophisticated and nice as yours. Enjoy your new machine!

vickig626 12-09-2015 05:41 AM

you're going to love your new machine! I have 2 Babylocks, a Babylock serger and a Brother travel machine and am very happy with all of them. I have the Symphony and it's an awesome machine. Like you said, great features, quiet and very reliable.

only advice I have is to test different threads. My machines don't care for Coats & Clark (breaks a lot). I mostly use Mettler or Gutterman.

Enjoy your new baby!! And, yes, he's a keeper.

Jingle 12-09-2015 05:41 AM

Good for you.
I buy my own machines and fabrics. He buys his own log splitter, wood chipper and tractors. All works out good for us, for the last 53+ years.

Carol34446 12-09-2015 06:35 AM

He is a keeper that is for sure. Mine is really good but at 69 with 8 machines and 2 surgers I am the one who will not spend for expensive machine, and if I buy materal (like I don't have tubs of it) all he says is "more material??????????.

AUQuilter 12-09-2015 06:43 AM

Hope you enjoy your new sewing machine! Of course, your DH is a keeper, too.

psychonurse 12-09-2015 07:01 AM

MargeD 12-09-2015 07:24 AM

Maybe you could introduce him to my DH. Congratulations. What a sweetie.

Judith1005 12-09-2015 07:29 AM

How awesome!! He is definitely a keeper. Congrats!

Onebyone 12-09-2015 08:27 AM

Congratulations on your new machine.

I wouldn't be married to someone that didn't think like your DH. Why would anyone want a DH that didn't?

regm 12-09-2015 09:10 AM

He set up a quilting studio for me while i was gone for work. when I came back it was done and a new machine all set up for me to use. He knew which one I was wanting because he stalked my internet searches haha. Men like this are defintely 1 in a million!

caspharm 12-09-2015 05:58 PM

Wonderful gift and DH! Merry Christmas early!

cathyre 12-09-2015 06:56 PM

Keep him for sure , enjoy your new machine .

quilttiger 12-10-2015 03:54 AM

ShannonMN, thank you for starting such a lovely and heartwarming thread and its posts! Congrats on your new machine, and your DH is a real treasure, indeed. I have been also blessed with a wonderful soulmate who looks out for me. Without him, there would be no beautiful quilting/sewing studio. He gave me my first sewing machine as a Christmas gift after we got engaged. We've been married 50 wonderful years.

Texas_Sue 12-10-2015 04:12 AM

WOW! What a wonderful day made so special by your special someone. Enjoy and QUILT ON.

Susan

Babylock was the way to go. Sounds like my husband. Are't we lucky?

Fizzle 12-10-2015 04:49 AM

Wow is right! Congrats on both!

mimiknoxtaylor 12-10-2015 05:15 AM

He is a great husband !

Quilter 65 12-10-2015 05:24 AM

You will get a double joy out of your machine--first because you love it, and second because he bought it for you. Wonderful man.

callen 12-10-2015 09:14 AM

Well, I thought I had the only hubby to do things like that. He just bought me the new Husqvarna Epic sewing machine. I have had it for 3 weeks & it's AWESOME. Never did I think I would own a beauty like this. His interest in my quilting hobby has just blown me away. I have sewn for years but he never really took a lot of interest but when I started to quilt - wow, what a difference. He has made me a custom sewing room & so many other things, I could go on & on but the message is: I am a very lucky woman (& I know it) & it's so good to know that I am not alone. Merry Christmas to all members of the Quilting Board. God Bless each everyone with good health & happiness in 2016.
From one of your Canadian neighbours.

Quilter Grandma 12-10-2015 01:47 PM

You are blessed!!

carolynjo 12-10-2015 08:05 PM

You are i lucky girl in two ways: to have the love of your life and for him to be sensitive to you desire for a new, wonderful sewing machine!

sewbeeit42 12-10-2015 09:13 PM

I must have his twin brother as my husband knows that quilting is my life, second only to family, so he says go for it. Having a spouse that sees what interests us and gives us pleasure is a great gift. Mine is going on 50 years of marriage next year. I know his love is toy trains and I support him all the way.

Becinaus 12-10-2015 11:09 PM

Lucky you! He's a definite keeper, with a response like that :-)

Taughtby Grandma 12-11-2015 07:43 AM

How great is he!!! I love my babylock, with all the bells and whistles! Congratulations and happy sewing!

appleblossom 12-11-2015 11:47 AM

I just have to share this... Yesterday, my husband and I took the day off. He suggested that we go to a city about an hour away and go do some "quilt shopping". We started off at Grubers... Found another new project to add to my list! Then he suggested we go to a sewing machine dealer that I've been wanting to check out for months. There aren't a lot of Babylock dealers in our area and St. Cloud (MN) is probably the closest. I've had my heart set on one for awhile now but always thought of it as kind of a daydream. Couldn't imagine spending that kind of money on a new machine when I have two that (mostly) work already. They are a different class of machine (think used Yugo) versus the Babylock (think Lexus).

Long story short, hubby bought me a new Babylock Soprano!! I believe this is the model that's replacing the Symphony. It's A-MAY-ZING!! It's so quiet... And sooooo smooth and it has all the great features I wanted and more (thread cutter, advanced needle threader, pivot feature, knee lift... I could go on and on. I am the luckiest woman on the planet. I asked my husband why he bought it for me and he just said... "That smile on your face - it's my job to put it there as often as I can."

you certainly got a keeper

QUILTNMO 12-11-2015 04:17 PM
