Welcome! I am left handed also and really like the Olfa ergomatic rotary cutter and the self healing Olfa mats. If you have a JoAnn's close to you, watch the sales or use coupons.

I'm another Martelli cutter and matt fan. They make a left-hand version. The Martelli site has videos on how to use their products.

My suggestion is to buy a different styles and brands of the cutter. You will never know the one like best if you don't try different ones.

I like the Martelli ergonomic, but I have to say that I've had to replace it twice - once for a broken spring and once for broken plastic. I wait for the 1/2 price sale.

I like the Olfa ergonomic cutters best. It's nice that the blade retracts when you let go. You can lock it in either position as well. You can swap the blade to the other side for left handed cutting. I bought mine on ebay ages ago, with a pack of 20 blades for less than $20. It was an awesome deal!

Twenty seven years ago, I bought my first rotary cutter from Fiskars. Last year it suddenly refused to stay open while cutting, so I figured it was time for a new one. I bought another Fiskars. I figure if the first one lasted so long, buy the same again. The only difference in the two is the original had a gray handle and the new one has an almond colored handle. I originally bought the first one, (an ergonomic) because I was teaching my "lefty" DD to sew, and the Fiskars was easy to switch from left hand to right hand. Care fully remove the blade, flip the handle and reassemble it. Easy Peasy.
