I have a Horn Quilters Dream and a Horn matching serger table. But after banging my knees on both every single time I sewed, my husband bought me a Koala Sewmate, Rollabout and cub for my serger. All have outback extensions and an extra 3" height. I absolutely love the setup and the electric machine lifts are the bomb.

I have a arrow gidget II and while I love it I still lust at the Koala, they are more pricey but they are also higher in quality than arrow or horn cabinets to me but the arrow and horn cabinets are nice. If you see some in person you will see what I mean by quality

I had a second to drag out some pictures I had already taken.... here's my setup, and while it doesn't look elegant like the gorgeous Koala would... I *love* how functional this is for me.

I just have a 6 foot banquet table that I have my sewing machine on the right and on the left is my serger. I do have one of those folding cutting/quilting tables that I got a Joanns. Works for me

I would love the Koala quiltmate but right now it is more than I want to spend. Currently I have the Sauder cabinet (purchased from Walmart online) and a folding table behind it. The machine doesn't set flush and that is really what I want. I have heightened my chair and that helps a whole lot. This year my stitching purchase will be a new cabinet...perhaps not a Koala but one that has the lift and allows my machine to be flush with surface.

I have a Horn 5580 elevated sewing cabinet/cutting table, and it is worth every penny I paid for it. The sewing machine shop was changing its cabinetry and I purchased it along with the drafting chair for about 1/2 the price.

Even that little Gidget 2 allows you to get your machine flush & fill in with an insert. I'm glad I got mine... I just need to get the acrylic extension table for my Ellisimo so I can get her to go flatbed style. :)

Just a thought... if you have a machine and have the acrylic extension table that may have either come with it or maybe a Sew Steady extension table - those work fabulously with the Gidget 2.... you just don't put the little legs on it and it will sit on the table perfectly with your machine lowered down.

My first sewing machine cabinet was a beautiful armoir style with an electric lift, etc. I sold it when I moved because it was horribly heavy to move. Even having had that in my past, I'm still super happy with the setup I have now.

Check the website http://www.schrocksofwalnutcreek.com, then click on sewing cabinets. They have beautiful, functional cabinets. I ordered the large sewing cabinet. However, there is about a 10-12 week waiting period while the cabinet is built, as each one is built to your specifications. I went to their showroom before I purchased mine and the quality is exceptional. They will email you all the information you need about their cabinets if you are interested.

If you have a dedicated space and don't need your machine to drop down to be hidden away, I would look at the Sew Perfect tables. No they aren't as pretty as some of the others but they give you a really affordable table to set your machine down in so that it will be flush. I don't have one but have heard others (here and elsewhere) talk about them so I looked them up. I do know that when I need an additional table that is probably what I will be going with.

I watched this video. What clever ideas. Thanks for the great idea of the foam board and plastic sheet. I have one of those tables and love how adjustable they are. I have 4 2x6's that I use under the legs. Each are cut long enough to fit under two legs. I use them to add additional height to the table for cutting etc. By having each board long enough to fit under two legs it is very sturdy. Sometimes I only want to use one layer of board and other times I stack them two high. It depends on what I'm doing.
