Nope I haven't pinned it to the carpet or rug but I have sure basted it to the carpet! I was alone every time it happened, nobody knew it happened, so I just clipped the carpet. LOL After 4 or 5 yrs of this happening on occasion, DH was helping me baste a King sz one night on the carpet. We finished & I went out to take a smoke break. I came in & went to go wash my hands, quietly entered the living room & what did I see? Him CLIPPING the carpet where he had basted the quilt to it. LOL Busted. We had a good laugh so I admitted to doing it many times. LOL Shortly after we got a LA.

Hey Joe, check out Susan Schambers website and she has a video on pinless basting. It may take a bit longer on a large quilt but you are sitting on a chair not down on the floor. I think it is great!!!!

I take my quilt to my mom who is a long arm quilter. She bastes them for me on her machine. I don't have to crawl around on the floor.
