The Clover one is like a very sharp needle with a hook on the point. I love it.

If the fabric is not too dense, you could try using a very fine crochet hook to grab the threads and pull them under, have never tried this on a quilt, but has worked well with other sewing projects.

I do both just to be safe. I sew tiny stitches at the beginning and the end, then hide them in the batting. Just recently bought the Clover cheater needles and find them so much easier to hide the threads.
