Bias tape always works out well.
For childrens quilts as long as they are straight sides, then straight fabric is ok but if you want beauty, finesse, quality work do the bias. I know it is a pain but it is quality. I have also thought about getting those handy dandy little items that theyhave come up with to make bias tape
If you are making one size bias tape all the time then go ahead and get something to make it easier for you. I find I have to m.ny widths to make

If you go to search, you'll find a bunch of info about abbreviations. Or go to Quiltinggallery.com and search acronyms. Great list!!

I usually cut 2 1/2" strips across the WOF. It works for me! The only time I had cut a bias binding is for accent like a stripe or check print. And I cut that myself too

I saw a pack with all 5 sizes at the quilt show in Madison today. I think it was only $18 or maybe even $15. I should go back tomorrow and buy them if there are any left.

Yep, i just found that out! OK now for my second dumb question for the day! (Really not only the second, but on here it is)

:D What is WOF and LOF I can guess it means width of fabric or length of fabric! See how fast I am learning.... I think I need to post on here more!

Width of fabric & length of fabric.
Here's a link to some of the quilting acronyms.

I was so lost till I found a list like this! I hope this helps. :-)

Thank you so much! I can figure most of them out, but often get a bit confused.

I have a bias tape maker and I like my old non-mechanical makers better. I don't feel the machine is all its cracked up to be.

I use the clover bias maker & like it very much. I do applique and have used the bias maker for flower stems etc. It can be used for more than than binding. I,also, have cut staight of grain for quilts. Perhaps you could use another persons bias maker to see how you like it. Carlene
