Battle Axe! lololol I can't believe you sewed one, let alone three! lol That is really toooo funny! Thanks for posting. I'm getting the pattern from her, and I can see immediately, that it's a very funny mistake. :-)

Just for fun, I would use one of them on the front - just make it 11 inches like the others! Hope you continue to pass all your tests!

I kind of like that tiny red square in the center - the fire is just starting to ignite - or it's the last ember in the fire.

But it is frustrating to make a mistake like that -

Hope everything turns out okay for you.

You are definitely not alone in making mistakes. First of all-I am glad your tests are all coming out good. If you have more fabric, maybe you could just cut the correct pattern. Sometimes when this happens to me-I just put it up for awhile or walk away and do something else and the whole issue does work out. You just need some time away from the project.

I find if I am worried about something it is hard to keep my mind working right.

I hope your tests keep coming back good.

I made a log cabin for my sister's birthday last fall, and I can't tell you how many big goofs I had. When I realized I made the exact same mistake twice and about to do it three times, I quit. I was not concentrating, I was anxious about something else, I was tired of doing the same thing.

On the upside, I was thinking your "mistake" blocks would make great mug rugs. You have a set of 4 right there!

Or sew them all together for a great matching pillow for the quilt.

Well, let's look at it this way- if you're going to fail a test, better this one than one of the Doctor's, right?

We have all been there and done that. Incidentally, the other blocks are fantastic.

I love the “big blocks.” They are not the correct size, but they have wonderful colors and the center red is just cute. I’m not good at envisioning the four blocks united as the pattern called for, but, if you do join them and then put them on point with a strong set of triangles, they will be perfect on the back of the quilt. My husband is having lots of tests now also; you’re in the midst of lots of worrying and making a mistake in the size of a block is so much better than just stewing. I’m glad to hear that your tests are going well.

The inner logs look narrow, so why not just trim down the wide outer logs to achieve the 11" block? As usual, the quilter is usually hardest on themselves! I think your stuff looks great.
