For me it depends on who the quilt is for. If it will be washed frequently , (baby or charity quilt) I stitch binding onto the back and machine stitch on the front. Otherwise I stitch to front and hand stitch to back.

I have done it both ways, but mostly back to front.
I usually stitch the front and then wrap to the back, but after seeing the recient fake piping binding tute I will be trying that next time.
It depends on the look I want so I do it both ways. I really think it is a personal preference.

Aman I am like you also.

I sew mine on the back, then the front. All by machine. In threads that go with the fabrics. :)
I do front to back, usually. Once I mistakenly sewed the binding to the back first and found it really didn't make any difference. So, there ya go :)
I turn to the front and use a decorative machine stitch to finish. Much easier!

i sew the binding on the front, then turn to the back to sew, either by hand or machine.......only one time did i sew to the front, when i tried to used a decorative stitch to sew it down.....never again, it was a mess..........gina
