I'm doing a complete machine binding on a small wall hanging. I've already sewn the binding on the back and am about to machine sew the front. Should I do a straight stitch or can I use a decorative stitch to do this?

Thanks!!

I use decorative stitches and sometimes varigated thread.

I like to use decorative stitches.

It all depends on the way you want it to look. I have done both.

Whichever you prefer.

Decorative stitches can add a new look with the right thread. Give it a try!

Either would look great. It depends on your personal choice and what finished look you are seeking.

Your wallhanging, your choice. I like decorative and varigated thread, too.

Same here.

If it's regular flip to the front binding, you can do whatever you like! Try a sample to see what stitch looks best and remember to pick a stitch that will pivot nicely in the corners. I really like the "Quick machine binding with flange" that Charismah posted on tutorials and it uses a straight stich in the flange ditch. Maybe something to try for your next quilt?
