seasaw2mch 06-08-2011 05:38 PM

Thanks so much for sharing. I have always dreaded doing the bindings because I always have trouble keeping the binding out of my way while still trying to get it on so this is a must try idea for me. Again thanks so much for making my work a little easier.

Rock Lady 06-08-2011 06:14 PM

Thanks for the wonderful idea. Maybe you should take a patent out on that.

QuiltnLady1 06-08-2011 06:29 PM

I did this a week or so ago, but just made a nice roll for the batting and put it on the extra spool spindle. It worked fine. I talked to a friend and she gave me soem old, very large wooden spools to try next time.

EdieClay 06-08-2011 06:37 PM

Thanks ... what a great idea!

Momsmurf 06-08-2011 07:46 PM

Good hint .. will remember it when I use bias tape.

My 1¼" binding is usually 7 yards long, so it wouldn't bit on this pill bottle, so I wind it around my hand and keep the roll on the top of my quilt.

sassey 06-08-2011 08:33 PM

Thanks, Johanna, for taking the time to post this helpful hint! :) It sure beats the heck out of draping it across my shoulders and having it go all over the place (including onto the floor) while my hands are busy elsewhere!

caspharm 06-09-2011 09:26 AM

kaygee 06-10-2011 04:57 PM

What a great idea, if you have a machine with an extra spool holder that is located on the front of your machine. Mine is on the top of my machine so this would not work for me. Any ideas for those of us who have this problem?
