So of course, I'm not going to laugh. I'm going to say THANK YOU!! :D Binding is not something I enjoy hahaha |

Great idea ... we're so glad you took up quilting! I never thought of that!

great tip !!

Use fusible thread in the bobbin so when you iron the binding over it stays until you hand-stitch it.

I figure there have to be some newbies out there like me that might benefit from this, so here goes.
It's pretty simple, after you sew your binding on to the front, flip it over and iron the binding down. It takes a minute or two, but it really helps get the binding to be even on the front (i.e., you're not repeatedly pulling the binding too far or not pulling it enough around the edge). I usually start with one side, iron it all down right, sew it, and then move on to the next side, iron, sew, etc. Anyways, sorry if that's a pretty obvious tip, but I'm finding it makes handsewing the binding on WAY easier and more fun. :) |
Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna try it.

I think it is a great tip. You can use a little dab of elmers glue before you iron. The glue washes out so you don't have to worry about it being stiff.

oh wow -- the SIMPLE things!!!! I hadn't thought of it either!!! I usually match the edge to the seam line for the binding. I'm working on one now...will try your tip! Thank you!
BTW -- keep thinking of new tips, okay?!?! |
