I *love* bird quilts! Did you use a pattern? The birds are really lovely!

redquilter 02-04-2011 04:11 PM

Me too - I love birds and that quilt is exquisite. Is it paper pieced or applique? The string quilt is beautiful also.

I absolutely love the bird quilt! May I ask if you used a pattern and if so, where did you get it from?

ktbb 02-04-2011 04:39 PM

pattern is called "Birds on View" by Alice Wilhoit. Google her name and you'll get her site with the pattern on it.

You are just moving right along! It is so pretty! Saw a post the other day with just a few blocks, you are on a roll!

I do work quickly. I get bored easily! I don't do any handwork because of a physical problem. I use fusible web and a buttonhole stitch or just raw edge straight line stitching around each piece. I have washed some quilts made in this manner several times and not had a problem. I also have been using the QAYG method for the last several months. So with the fusible applique and the QAYG it finishes us really quickly. I love Alice Wilhoit's patterns and especially this one because I so enjoy watching the backyard birds. Thanks for all your encouraging comments.

I have decided on the border for my Birds on View quilt. Alice Wilhoit had a floral stripe for her border but I don't have anything in my stash and don't want to get out today. I think I saw a border similar to this in a Quilters Newsletter issue but I couldn't find it. What do you think? It isn't to busy is it? Thanks

UPDATE - Almost finished. Just need to stitch down a few leaves and then bind! The pattern is by Alice Wilhoit and I made the border because I didn't have a stripe that looked good.

Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I love what you did with the border. It's so much prettier than a stripe would have been.
