Is the bllue fabric wrong?
 

I'm starting the 4th Smith Mountain Morning and I wanted to do it in green. Here are the first 3 blocks and the light neutral that has a blue base jumps out at me. Would you leave that in?[ATTACH=CONFIG]619250[/ATTACH]After I posted the picture, I can't see the blue fabric. Pictures sometimes so a number on reality. It's the middle light one with leafless trees. The greens don't even look green.

It doesn't look blue to me either, but if it bothers you now is the time to change it.

I bet there isn't a dry eye in the house.

Yes, I did see that and her blog this a.m. which I get a day later said she would not blog for a while. I have been worried about her for some time. She is running a million miles per second. So much going on in her life. It doesn't take much to derail a person with that much going on. I'm taking her class on Sunday.

In your picture, the middle strips and the smaller strips closer to the center all seem to be noticeably lighter and "cooler" (color-wise) than the other light neutral strips - the other strips seem to be a bit more yellow, giving them a "warmer" look. If it was my quilt, I would be inclined to replace them something that matches the warmth of the other strips.

I think the lightest ones tend to look like marble and should be fine with the others. just what ever you are happy with is what counts.

I see what you mean. The leafless tree fabric has cool tones (they look ice blue/grey to me). The others are decidedly warm. I would try to stick with all warms. Anytime something “jumps out at me” I have to ask “in a bad way or a good way?”

I don't see blue but maybe my computer is not showing a true color. Does it bother you so much that you feel you need to remove it? If you use it throughout your quilt then it will be a consistent fabric

I understand what you are saying. But if I take out the blue and put in another beige type warm color, I think the quilt will lose it's sparkle and punch and be bland. I'm feeling very naughty today, so I will leave it in. I'm taking that entire box to Bonnie Hunter class on Sunday. We will see what she says. Thanks everyone. Marcia

I agree with this, especially if you want it to be scrappy.

I learned my lesson on 2 different scrappy quilts that both happened to be green. One had all similar shades of a forest green and the piecing was indistinguishable. The second one had all colors and shades of green: mint, forest, sage, turquoise, kelly, spring, smoky. And it turned out gorgeous.
