Haven't received my first issue nor been notified that it's ready or been mailed. I'm getting worried at this point.

Carol34446 03-06-2014 02:27 PM

Wed, the 5th and it didn't come today either. Maybe tomorrow, but sure wish it would hurry up and get here. Will be watching to see when someone gets theirs.

gale 03-06-2014 02:29 PM

I just bought the e-version. Downloading it right now.

palmetto girl 03-06-2014 02:32 PM

STILL waiting in SC as well and this is the 6th, mail already gone, NO Block!!

gale 03-06-2014 02:39 PM

Well after a first look I'm not sure I'll keep getting it. A lot of the quilts use their method of HST and I won't use that method. I don't like that many bias edges. Not sure about how to get the same size HST using precuts and another method...

How do you subscribe? I googled BLOCK magazine and came up with an Arts/crafts mag - Black Men's magazine and another from Canada!! I don't see anything on MSQC web regarding the magazine.

quiltinglady-1 03-06-2014 03:30 PM

Still waiting for mine to arrive.

eta: from the description it sounds like it's a different issue. Not sure how you can get the original one. The one I just downloaded is, I believe, the first one, because it doesn't seem to have the quilts they have listed on that page.

gale 03-06-2014 04:14 PM

The one I bought and downloaded says winter edition, volume 1. So I guess the print one on that link is the next issue.

Thank You!! Don't know why I couldn't bring it up ---- didn't have 'shop' but had magazine in the search.

We so much sound like kids waiting for Christmas! :D Maybe they will be in our mailboxes tomorrow...or the next day...or Monday. It will happen!

quiltnut4ever 03-06-2014 05:04 PM

So glad I found this thread since I too had been wondering what happened? I haven't received mine yet and noticed that the 2nd one will be out soon yet I have not received the first one. Hopefully soon! I can't wait. I'll be seeing Jenny Doan in Naples FL in April along she'll be doing her trunk show.

berryberry 03-06-2014 05:10 PM

I got my copy today in the mail. I also noticed it is available today on the MSQC site having arrived yesterday according to the blog. It's 104 pages and much like a small book verses a magazine. I like it. It has lots of pictures and sure enough, no ads. The one thing I saw different that I miss from "Quickly" is there no paper templates. I hope future copies do contain paper templates.
Quilts in this issue-
Love Notes
lattice
disappearing pinwheel
falling charm
Jacobs ladder
mini periwinkle
wonky star
freestyle star
jelly roll race
garden party

Thanks for posting the quilts in the first issue of Block, berryberry! I can't wait for mine to arrive! I've made a couple of the quilts in the issue; but it will be so good to have written directions. Unfortunately, I want to make all but one of the quilts on the list except for the ones I have already made. I am so excited to think that my issue will be here soon!

VaQuiltgal 03-06-2014 06:13 PM

Got mine today in VA. My friend ordered weeks before I did and she hasn't received hers yet. Strange.
Too busy to study it but flipped through and saw several quilts I'd like to make.

duckydo 03-06-2014 07:01 PM

I haven't received mine either. It is already paid for so I am looking for it any day... Yipee!

duckydo 03-06-2014 07:05 PM

Scraps, Go to Missouri Star Quilt Co and you can subscribe there.

lfstamper 03-06-2014 07:41 PM

Still waiting in Tx. Maybe tomorrow.

KerryK 03-06-2014 08:20 PM

Still waiting in Alabama. Patience is not one of my virtues. Hoping it will be here tomorrow. :D

I love her method of making HSTs... so quick and easy. I dont stretch the fabric when I press so the bias edges have never been a problem for me. Once they are sewn to a straight-of-grain edge, they are stable again.

On at least 2 of them, they are not sewn to a straight-of-grain edge. They're sewn to another bias edge. I can do bias edges. But I hate dealing with them, worrying about not stretching and having to practically babysit them. I'm originally a garment sewer so I know how to deal with the bias. I just don't want to. Especially over and over and over again.

Learner747 03-07-2014 04:06 PM

It says on the subscription page that it is only published every other month. Maybe we hit it during the "off" month.

quiltnut4ever 03-08-2014 07:38 AM

I sent them an email and received a response that weeks before the magazine goes out they will charge your account $5.99 automatically so when you see this charge in your account don't fret, as long as you see who is the one charging the account of course. They also stated that there have received responses from people that they have received their magazines so far. Its just a matter of waiting...*sigh*
