Block magazine

I just received an email indicating that my credit card was going to be charged for the next issue of block magazine from MSQC. I also received an email in June with the same info., however I have not seen that issue. So far I only have 2 issues of block magazine. Did any of you receive issue three? Also, is the current issue going to be #4? I have sent an email to MSQC, hope we can get it straightened out!

Carol

The third issue came out several weeks ago. This is issue 4. Call them, they will send you issue 3. I had to call for the second issue. Not sure why they have trouble but seems like we aren't the only ones.

Jackie Spencer 08-06-2014 06:43 PM

This issue is #4. Love this Mag!!

sewbizgirl 08-06-2014 08:13 PM

It's usually several weeks after they charge your card before the mag arrives.

redneckwoman 08-07-2014 02:44 AM

Call them I didnt get vol. 3 I called them they sent it right out.

quiltnut4ever 08-07-2014 03:11 AM

I never got issue #3. I had called them numerous times leaving voice mails and "note" messages put in from their website. So I wound up ordering #3. HOnestly that came in faster than the subscription. Recently I received an email of an apology and that they would reimburse or credit me but haven't heard anything since. Yes I do know that the magazine does take time but my payment was taken out on June 10th and to this day still haven't received my magazine. Now I received an email that the $5.99 was taken out of my account for #4 and I can only hope that it gets here. I will be calling them regarding #3 reimbursement.

Carolbla 08-07-2014 04:15 AM

Sounds like I should give MSQC a call. Was issue three as good as the first two issues?

Quiltngolfer 08-07-2014 04:29 AM

All issues have been great as well as the Quilting Quickly that Jenny did last year. I was notified yesterday that they took the money out for my 4th issue of Block. I just love the format. It's more like a quilt book than a magazine. I can't wait for the next one to get here.

ManiacQuilter2 08-07-2014 05:21 AM

Hate to be the odd woman on the "block", but I like seeing the new lines of fabric and patterns that are free on the manufacturer's website.

You aren't the odd woman. I too subscribed, think I got caught up in the moment of all the press about her. Don't take me wrong I think she is great, love the you tubes but the patterns in the book are the same ones she is doing on them. Honestly they are easy enough that I really don't need written instructions.

aronel 08-07-2014 02:59 PM

Same here, they sent me the notification, when I called they apologized an I received the issue in 2 days! Talk about fantastic service!

The future magazines will be supplements to online content. QuiltersNewsletter is heading that way. Have you visited their website lately? Lots of quilt videos there. Fons and Porter is adding more online content in their magazines and most all digital quilt issues have much more included then the print version. Things change as all newer generations get older and are the major buyers.

duckydo 08-08-2014 03:05 AM

Call them, they have a wonderful customer service dept. I have received my third also.

BrendaK 08-08-2014 03:21 AM

Same thing with me. I have called and was told that they would send the third issue out right away. Still have not received it. I also received email that I was charged for the fourth issue. Sure hope the third gets here before the fourth. Thinking about just cancelling the subs. for reasons mentioned. BrendaK

quiltnut4ever 08-08-2014 03:34 AM

I just received an email from MSQC stating they were confused as to which Block edition I was talking about. I responded with the same response before and that I am looking into receiving a refund or a credit to my account since I had to order it. They took out the payment for Block #4 so let's see what happens.

suzanprincess 08-08-2014 04:18 AM

I love the first Block issue, but next two had nothing of interest to me, so I just cancelled my subscription. Hated to do that, as I like the way it's done, but $6/month to add a book to the shelf that will remain unused hurts too much!

Onebyone 08-08-2014 04:41 AM

I rarely find more then one or two items in any quilt magazine that interest me enough to make. With the cost of patterns, the cost of one magazine is a bargain.

sept97 08-08-2014 05:56 AM

isn't it supposed to 1 issue every other month? it seems to be more frequent

Onebyone 08-08-2014 05:58 AM

It is every other month.

Gail B 08-08-2014 06:04 AM

I have been charged for all 4 issues of the magazine & have not received any so far. I did email MSQC two weeks ago & got a reply that they would ship out replacement copies as soon as my address was verified. They did have the correct address but I still have not received a magazine.

nygal 08-08-2014 06:31 AM

I didn't get word they took out the money for the next issue but I do see it has been taking from my bank account. So the next issue will be on it's way to me.

Rhonda Lee 08-08-2014 07:39 AM

My first two Block books came on time. I had to call about the third one and I received that one shortly after I called. I have never been notified that they were charging my account. I just see the charge when I look at my statement. I really do love the books. I have made one quilt from one book. Sometimes I wonder about the cost but I chalk it up to entertainment. I really get lost in each issue and enjoy the heck out of them. So is the 6 bucks worth it? I guess we all have to decide that for ourselves. So far I will continue with the subscription as long as there is joy in looking at it and reading her heartwarming stories.

Dina 08-08-2014 08:09 AM

I bought the first two at my LQS...sounds like it may be the easiest way to get them?

Dina

Onebyone 08-08-2014 08:56 AM

There must be a flub in some of your registration info. I have not had one problem with notifications or receiving the magazine. I would stay on the phone with a customer service person until it is straighten out and verified about all the needed information.

jcrow 08-08-2014 10:37 AM

I hope it's not just me, but I don't find 'Block' magazine fulfilling. It doesn't challenge me. I, too, watch her tutes online and see she doesn't always give you everything you need to make her quilts. That is where the mag comes in handy, and I know she loves pre-cuts, but I want to learn harder ways of piecing.

She is great if you want to whip out a quilt in a couple of days, and she has some great tips to making a challenging quilt quite easy, but I want to learn something new - new techniques that twist my brain and make me smile when I'm done. Don't get me wrong, I love Jenny but I would like to be challenged a little bit more. Anyone else feel this way?

Happystitcher 08-08-2014 11:35 AM

Carol, maybe I had your copy. I received 12 issues....all bundled!!!! Removed my issue and sent back the other 11. I emailed Missouri Quilt and asked if I had been charged for all 12. Got a quick reply saying they appreciated my returning them and, no, hadn't been charged.

Carolbla 08-08-2014 11:45 AM

Happystitcher - that is too funny! 12 issues must have been a big bundle!! I called MSQC and was assured that block magazine number three would be sent right out to me. She was very pleasant on the phone and verified my address, which was correct. Keeping my fingers crossed!

BrendaK 08-08-2014 11:52 AM

After reading all the post I called MSQC again to see when the they sent the third issue out. I was told that there was no record of me calling. Mabel then said that she would sent out the third issue right away. I was told that their warehouse and shipping had moved so maybe I just fell thru the cracks. Still thinking about cancelling future issues. BrendaK

I have received all three of my Block Magazines and yesterday received the notice for the fourth one. I find interesting patterns in all the Block Magazines. To me they are more useful quilting magazines than any of the others I have subscribed to over the years. I also download all the Friday new tutorials shares. I buy all my pre-cuts from MSQC that I like from the email they send each day with a reduced offer called Daily Quilting Deal. I marvel at the success this family has made for themselves as well as the small town they live in.

Carol34446 08-08-2014 01:24 PM

Send me a cute e-mail and said they had charged me and it would be a few weeks before it got here. Have gotten the other 3 OK.

Carol34446 08-08-2014 01:33 PM

It could be like they showed on news tonight, mail lady throwing mail in dumpster. We had that happen here at our house one time, and having mail delivered to wrong address, We are 6201 W. Meadow and there is a 6201 Oaklawn and mail was being mixed up. And this is a new endeavor at MSQC and so that could be a problem. They are great and will fix the problem.

I haven't received #3 either. I assumed, when I recently got the notice about charging my card, that this was #3. I like this magazine but if receiving them is going to be this hit and miss, I think I'll cancel.

donnamcr 08-08-2014 02:33 PM

I love everything about Jenny's tutorials and have learned so very much. However, Block deals mostly with pre-cuts and I really don't use those anymore. I have received the e-mail that the current issue is on its way, but I am considering canceling my subscription after that. But I still love Jenny!

Gail B, I notice you have an Alberta and an Arizona address. If your credit card is linked with the Alberta address this could be the problem on their end. Maybe they aren't changing the "delivery" address to your Arizona one. I am also from Alberta and have emailed and called them. They cannot send the magazine to Alberta. They say their bulk mail system can't do it which is why we can only download the magazine if we want it. Just a thought but you might want to call again to verify which address pops up on their system.

No. Not in my opinion.

quiltnut4ever 08-10-2014 01:01 PM

Well I finally got a hold of someone at MSQC on Thursday. I never received #3 and had to order one since my lqs nearby doesn't carry it. After explaining that Linda was kind enough to give me 600 quilter's cash!!! Though I never use them I now have enough to spend on a quilter's daily deal and something else ( I try to keep my total under $20 to include the $5 s&h). She did state that #4 will start mailing out mid-August so I will be with anticipation for it.

I have to wonder if someone isn't intercepting your copy. I've had no trouble with my deliveries. I think 10 patterns for the price is an incredible value. All patterns and no advertisements. My kinda mag!

nstitches4u 08-13-2014 05:19 PM

There have been 3 issues so far. I just rec'd an email saying that my card had been charged for issue #4 and it would be arriving in a few weeks. I'm sure MSQC will make it right. They still have copies of issue #3 on the website. I'm sure they will send one to you right away. They are very nice to work with.
